QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

I wonder why you participate in a page that has "universal rhetoric", which is really just us giving our opinions on things which sometimes echoes the press.
Sometimes I wonder why I'm here myself.
Beerman said:Well, there are others here who in the past have shared what they hear on the Maddow show.
And I remember when you cited the NY Post and the Daily Caller as sources:) I remember when I walked in on my spouse listening to her wave that 2005 tax return of Trump's as it were something meaningful, I knew that something was off. However, she is a paragon of perfection compared to the commentators on Fox. Let's just say that life is better without both of them.
Tweety said:I don't think that was the accusation. Beerman simply presented a story that "legacy news" stations didn't appear to cover which invites a comment on that statement as well as the story. I think legacy news outlets are old school outlets like NYT and the evening news on ABC, NBC, and CBS. I don't think much of the media was giving it much attention except on the sidelines if at all.
The initial story I remember having some doubts about it but couldn't recall its details. I didn't quite believe it but as with accusations I don't take them as absolute truth and wait for the evidence. Apparently it's was brought about by a nurse there.

It's an interesting development that the defamation suit was settled and worthy of a story, but the news is dominated by Trump and Musk. I've watched ABC evening news because my best friend that's staying with me post-hurricane watches it and it didn't cover that story, it's been about the weather, plane crashes and Trump.
I think the BBC was careful to repeatedly use the word "alleged." Having said that, I would prefer to no agency report on a story based on allegations without having done their only research.

I think it is a common practice to report "so and so is accused of such and such". It does sound like MSNBC went a bit overboard with it.
Here's an old story that is getting new legs today.

What a strange complaint to come from someone I've had to fact check and correct numerous times.
Anyway, I've linked to news stories from NY Post. No one has ever disputed the actual story. They just criticize the source.
Same with any opinions I've shared from either of those sources. Instead of discussing why an opinion might be right or wrong, lazy criticisms of the source is what I get back.
Crusades said:Like helping yo stop a war? Or does war aggression not count?
I'm not sure what you're saying here or who you're talking about. Can you please clarify what you mean.
Under the Biden administration the EU and USA stance was to offer aid, sanction Russia but more or less let them work it out themselves and not provoke Russia. I think we all figured Russia would win quickly and we'd be there to help with the aftermath.
The Trump administration of course wants to end the conflict as well and at first seemed to favor Ukraine but now did a 180 and seems more of a Russian sympathizer, and now is wanting compensation. Of course lying, backstabbing and alienating Europe is all because he just wants to end suffering and dying because he cares so much so none of that matters as long as he's helping to end the war.
The aggressor here is Putin whom I'm sure wants to end the war but wants victory and wants the mineral and energy rich lands he's conquered.
There's also the idea that Russia can't be trusted and has broken cease fires before and is just needing some time to regroup.

Actually, I think your debate skills have improved with your more upscale sources .
