The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

And don't you know, when they develop a vaccine for it (too late), RFK will insist that it wasn't tested enough and refuse to release it except to himself and his family members.  And then he'll say "I'm not anti-vax"; it's just this particular vax isn't tested enough.  There will never be enough testing for a rapidly expanding pandemic.  It sort of goes with the territory, especially if you forbid the rapid expansion on the CDC website of the latest data from the rest of the world.  Sure, go ahead and let the Russians and the Chinese develop the bird flu vaccine.  Do you think the will share the genome?

That's quite some wild speculation.

Yeah. Right up there with Obama wasn't born in the USA, Clinton had people killed, Pizzagate, or Ted Cruz's father was involved with Lee Harvey Oswald.

Wait...I thought Obamcare was fixing all our problems?

Actually, I really did think we were on our way to single payer.  Doesn't seem like the Dems care any longer, does it? They think they fixed it.

On to the next "crisis "....

Where did you get this idea that you thought "Obamacare was fixing all our problems"?  Rather naive of you don't you think?

People know the problem isn't fixed.  This is why a murderer became a folk hero.

And yes they do care.  Biden very recently talked about it.  Some of the subsidies are ending.  What do you think are the chances that they will be renewed in the age of DOGE?

While it's unclear how President-elect Donald Trump will approach the Affordable Care Act when he takes office later this month, he pushed unsuccessful efforts to repeal and replace the 2010 health care law during his first time. The Trump administration also expanded the use of short-term health insurance plans, which offered limited benefits and less expensive monthly premiums but denied coverage for existing medical conditions.

Well, that's not a recent quote from me so I don't know the context and don't care to find it.  But, I imagine I was being sarcastic if I said obamacare fixed anything.

I'm at a loss as to who the murderer turned folk hero is that you speak of.  I hope you're not going as unhinged as others.

Unhinged is the new normal when the POTUS is mentally ill. You've heard him repeat some unhinged stuff, right?

I was on my phone on my lunch break, and my phone doesn't default to the end of a thread, so I thought I hit the button to the end of the thread, and not sure where that quote came from but I must have been thinking it had something to do with Kennedy.  So my apologies for bring up an old post.

But I do stand by the idea that Democrats do care about Obamacare, and they are hoping against its demise under Trump.

But I did catch the sarcasm.

Healthcare has been a huge topic towards the end of last year so again in my mind it might have been a recent topic.  I'll quote a podcast to remind you.  "After nearly a week on the run, Luigi Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania for the murder of health insurance CEO, Brian Thompson. But in a macabre twist, Mangione has found widespread support on social media, which has dubbed him the 'hot assassin'.

I'm trying hard not be become unhinged.  I try to be realistic and objective and you don't hear "constitutional crises" (but I did use the word fascist for what I thought was some fascist like action the other day) or make up fake scenerio conspiracy theory just to prove how ridiculous something sounds, but every day I'm getting closer to becoming unhinged.  Hold me up.

This is really interesting.  Six people resign rather than dismiss a case against New York Mayor.  Some are republicans and Trump appointees.

The top federal prosecutor in Manhattan and 5 other top officials resigned Thursday rather than obey a Justice Department order to drop corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.........."You lost sight of the oath that you took when you started at the Department of Justice by suggesting that you retain discretion to interpret the Constitution in a manner inconsistent with the policies of a democratically elected President and a Senate-confirmed Attorney General,"

House Republicans released a budget blueprint on Feb. 12 that orders the Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees Medicare and Medicaid, to find $880 billion in savings from fiscal years 2025 through 2034.

Basically Republicans are looking to fully cut the annual budget of Medicaid in the next 9 years.  They apparently want to run both programs on half the money.

This will be interesting.
