The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

It's pervasive in our society.  I don't mind, but things are changing and I actually understand the resistance to that.

Maybe that wasn't a good way to describe my response to:   " There was very little homophobia after the gay civil right era and before the trans movement.  "  Which I continue to maintain is a false statement.

I understand I think. There is still homophobia more than I think but less than before? Or not very little.

Well I'm not LGBTQ so I'm not the best person to determine that. You are the best to make a determination on that.

My primary point was that the radicalized sect may be causing less tolerance or embolding the homophobes to be more outspoken.

Again I'm not sure what homophobia is at this point in time. I would define it as a distain and/or intolerance to alternate sexual destination marked with believe and or opinions that dehumanized or demoralize LGBTQ.

However having issues with safety in female intimate spaces/sports and the protection of children from surgeries and chemicals is not included. In my opinion. Although the way people express their issues can resemble a type of homophobia.

Well. Looks like we are going back and forth in agreement again. I'm sorry my reply was not appropriate. I wouldn't use hetronormative because in my opinion it suggests anything else is not "normal" .

How do you determine the queer vote from the LGBT vote? Or the LGB to the trans/queer vote? How was the loss of the queer vote determined? Did he gain with the remaining LGB group?

What is it that the Republicans pushed on that caused the T and the Q for Trump not to gain support  that didn't cause a loss for  the LGB?

(I am asking sincerely.  I know I have been sarcastic many times so I would like to clarify that I am not right now) .

I'm leaving work.  Didn't know I posted twice.  Hope it wasn't confusing.

Right after the election I posted an article that spoke to your questions and the drop un queer votes for Trump.  Basically  Trump bore the brunt of the queer community responding to what we feel is an anti-queer agenda put for by Republicans in state  houses around the country.

More in the community voted for him in 2020 than 2024.  Not sure how it was broken down.

There also was an anti drag sentiment, book bans, and so called "don't say gay".

While someone wanted to push it aside, his lie about kids getting surgeries in schools told us where he stood.

You've also more than once told me your issues.  I read them and it's stuff I can understand even though I do think if I were a parent, I'd be more worried about my child's safety from a mass shooter or going to camp and being molested by a youth pastor than a trans in a bathroom or surgeries (which aren't happening but got to protect those few I guess) and chemicals (which studies show are helpful but their doctors and parents don't understand their child is too young), I understand and allow that opinion.  I've also more than once said I support the idea of organizations banning newly transitioning transgendered persons from participating in sports and looking at others.  We've discussed this ad nauseam over the years and I don't care to go there again.

The queer community turned on Republicans and Trump as their leader.

Driver rams New Year's revelers in New Orleans, killing 15; FBI doesn't believe he acted alone

Quote

An Army veteran driving a pickup truck that bore the flag of the Islamic State group wrought carnage on New Orleans' raucous New Year's celebration, killing at least 10 people as he steered around a police blockade and slammed into revelers before being shot dead by police.

The FBI said it is investigating the attack early Wednesday in the city's famed French Quarter as a terrorist act and does not believe the driver acted alone.

President Biden will award the Presidential Citizens Medal to former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., who led the congressional committee that investigated the Jan. 6 , 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The Presidential Citizens Medal honors Americans who have performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens. It is the second-highest civilian honor a president can bestow and awarding it to Cheney and Thompson sends a signal.

President-elect Trump has criticized the pair repeatedly, falsely accusing them of breaking the law with their investigation into his actions on and around Jan. 6.

Donald Trump and JD Vance spent the 2024 election spewing the most rank transphobia, a tactic that should have made them pariahs but instead helped win them the presidency. Even though they haven't taken office yet, their victory seems to have emboldened Republicans like Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to go all out in their attacks on trans people.

Trump's transphobia is often focused on trans athletes, and Paxton is following his lead by suing the NCAA in Texas state court under the state's Deceptive Trade Practices Act. His allegation is that the NCAA is somehow swindling Texas sports fans by allowing trans athletes to compete in women's sporting events.

Quote

Everyone knows that the GOP has made transphobia one of the centerpieces of its messaging, with the explicit goal of running trans people out of public life altogether. They've particularly fixated on trans women athletes, declaring that it is their deep love for the sanctity of women's sports that drives them. So, it's not surprising that Republicans have been demanding that the NCAA entirely ban trans athletes from competing.

But here's the thing. There are roughly 510,000 NCAA athletes. And, according to the president of the NCAA, there are fewer than 10 trans athletes total. Even if all of these efforts to "protect" women's sports were in good faith, this would still be a solution in search of a problem.

Needless to say, these efforts are not in good faith, which is why, for example, the state's complaint won't even use the term trans woman or trans athlete, instead calling them men or "biological males.” It's why there are dozens of paragraphs about athletes who are not trans, are not NCAA athletes, and are not even American athletes, like Caster Semenya and Imane Khelif. Invoking Semenya, a South African runner, and Khelif, an Algerian boxer, is a favorite tactic of transphobic right-wingers, sending the not-so-subtle message that they will police the gender of anyone they deem insufficiently female.

CNN —

Incoming first lady Melania Trump will be the subject of a new documentary coming to Amazon's Prime Video this year, CNN has learned, offering a rare window into one of President-elect Donald Trump's most trusted — and famously private — advisers.

Donald Trump — a former reality star — has not been a popular figure in Hollywood since entering politics in 2015. But Amazon's decision to license the project indicates the streamer recognizes his popularity among many Americans, who elected Trump to a second term in November. And Melania Trump, who remains one of the most fascinating and mysterious figures on the planet, will get to share her story with a global streaming audience.

I am surprised that Mrs. Trump will allow this much scrutiny. She will serve as executive producer and have editorial control, so I wonder how in-depth this documentary will be.

Since semantics is apparently important.....  They are "biological males" or there would be no "trans" in "transgender " or "transwoman ".

Even if it is "in good faith" it would never be taken as such on the single fact it is Republican/Trump inspired.

Perhaps the streaming platform recognizes that the general population is not comfortable with the demand of complete acceptance including compelled speech to say alternate and infinite pro-nouns and gender identities. Or the removal of the word women in a biological functions of reproduction.  "Birthing person" or "chest feeding" to cater to a very minimal minority but remove the biological function of reproduction from female/woman.

I personally would not refer to a trans person as their biological sex because that is rude and disrespectful.

All sports bans like billiards and chess is ridiculous to not allow transpeople. However a transwoman who has the bone density and/or muscle mass of a biological male, even if on hormones in the boxing ring,  preparing to punch my daughter in the face, well I take major issue with that. And this does not make me a "transphobe". Or people who share this and other concerns related to trans in sports.

I wonder why there isn't a problem with transmen in men's sports?

I honestly don't understand what 90% of your post means. The article I linked says nothing about breast feeding, but that seems to be a very sensitive issue for you. I personally don't understand the big deal. I am just glad that breastfeeding in public areas is accepted, and there is a law about time to pump.
Regarding boxing, I would have a major issue with anyone punching my daughter in the face.

When lines are crossed then tolerance and exceptance will decrease. When "we just want to live our lives" turns into removing fundamental women functions or and what some feel women's rights, and including words and language. When women express concern for themselfs and their safety, this is what and why people take issue. You falsely call it and the article calls it "transphobic ". Any concern is met with "transphobia". This is one of the reasons Trump won.

Yes. These are all very important to me.

I offered a explanation on where Trump and Republicans are coming from. Not to mention the people who voted for him. Who were the majority.

If my post are too hard to understand, move on or put me on ignore.

Would you rather Mike Tyson (on cross sex hormones ) punch your daughter in the face or the top biological female MMA fighter?
