QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.
Crusades said:Perhaps you cannot see from your homosexual world?
I have a different perspective and experience as a gay man (as a boomer even different than the Gen Z gay people coming up), but I also live 99.9999% of my life with heterosexuals, my parents are heterosexuals as are my siblings, aunts and uncles, my unit has 60 employees and four of us are gay, but the hospital is not a "homosexual world" for me, and have a good understanding of heterosexual perspective as well because I hear it all day long. I don't know what a "homosexual world" is.
Like I said above, I am taking a break for the holidays from these forums but wanted to acknowledge I read your posts.
Merry Christmas!

The "homosexual world" is the opposite of the "hetronormative world" you allocated to me. Not intended as an insult anymore than your comment.
I can see how you have a understanding of the "hetronormative world" as you are the minority. Us heterosexuals ( I did have a GF once does that exclude me?). Us in the "hetroronormative world" (which is a term that includes norm - suggesting "normal" which I would find kind of offensive) we are not secluded from the LGBTQ perspective as you may believe.
Neither of us can really live in either world fully.
Merry Christmas Tweety!!
QuoteHeteronormativity is the idea that heterosexuality is the natural and preferred sexual orientation, and that people should conform to traditional gender roles and relationships
It's pervasive in our society. I don't mind, but things are changing and I actually understand the resistance to that.
Maybe that wasn't a good way to describe my response to: " There was very little homophobia after the gay civil right era and before the trans movement. " Which I continue to maintain is a false statement.

That perhaps wasn't a good way to describe my response to: "There was very little homophobia after the gay civil right era and before the trans movement. " (something you didn't define btw), which I continue to maintain is a false statement. Still I was trying to understand how someone could say such a thing. I'm not saying it's a lot or that it hasn't tamed down in my lifetime of nearly 50 years of being out of the closet, but I still maintain it's a false statement and only someone with a narrow (I.e. mainstream) view would think that.
So I lied. I saw I was quoted and responded. Can't help myself.
I can also agree with the idea that there were some LGB people that thought the queer agenda pushed too hard for the trans community. There's alway been that element. I remember in the 90's a gay preacher saying from the pulpit that flamboyant gays were not helping the cause.
I think the queer community are taking stock of the election and how trans issues might have played it in, but overwhelmingly are supportive of the trans community. Their fight is our fight and we go down together. Like I said, the issues surrounding the trans community and republican push back is one of the reasons the queer community was the only demographic where Trump lost ground.

Well. Looks like we are going back and forth in agreement again. I'm sorry my reply was not appropriate. I wouldn't use hetronormative because in my opinion it suggests anything else is not "normal" .
How do you determine the queer vote from the LGBT vote? Or the LGB to the trans/queer vote? How was the loss of the queer vote determined? Did he gain with the remaining LGB group?
What is it that the Republicans pushed on that caused the T and the Q for Trump not to gain support that didn't cause a loss for the LGB?
(I am asking sincerely. I know I have been sarcastic many times so I would like to clarify that I am not right now) .
