Quote

The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Because they are getting married before Trump reverses gay marriage or something. Helping to take the plunge. Or speed up their marriage plans. Might lead to more divorce but good for them.

Trump has been an open supporter of gay marriage since the 1980s.  Policy wise the man is far more of a "progressive liberal" than Biden or Harris.  I don't particularly agree with his "progressiveness" as we have seen the slippery slope happen in the last decade.  I support Trump for his Pro-America policies, equitable taxation plans, and border policies.

They just go to the border.  It's other countries like Venezuela that do what you describe.

Canada resented being lumped with Mexico as a cause for drug smuggling and illegal immigrants.

Mexico can and should do better.  It's not that they aren't doing anything.  Their President understands they help to feed us and have American companies there for cheap labor and tarrifs aren't in our best interests. Also her point about Americans demand for fentanyl is a key component of the problem while not helpful is true.  As well as the claim that much violence in Mexico (just like our gun violence here) is conducted with illegal guns smuggled from the US.

But anyway, I hear gay marriage is on the rise ahead of Trump taking office.

And the drugs come across the border because it is Americans smuggling to supply AMERICANS.  Just over 90 of the drugs arrests for drug smuggling are Americans.  WE are the problem.  My gay friends are worried that Trump will invalidate all gay marriages .  Can he do that?  They own houses together and have bank accounts together.  They are worried.

What are his pro-American policies and equitable taxation plans?  The more money one makes, the more favorable your taxes are.  I don't even know what "Pro-American" even means.  Tariffs on our closest neighbors and allies?

Are you trying to say that two manipulated videos on TikTok and Facebook from 4 years ago lead you to believe that the video on the Harris YouTube channel is the work of hackers?

The current progressive tax system marginalizes higher income earners.  The top 1% of America currently pay over 40% of federal income taxes, his tax plans will give relief to households that have chosen to have a higher income level.  Pro America policies as in strong borders, more nationalistic ideology.

Trump supports gay marriage, so this is more of an LGBT fragility issue.  People get off on pretending to be victims.

I am always working on myself, looking at myself, listening to criticism and learning.  I'm far from perfect.  I extend to you the same grace.

Time and a placed are indeed subjective.  You mocked gay people and their concerns and I am gay.  Wrong place and wrong time.  For me.  But you do you.

Again, discussion between us seems futile.

I told my friend the other day when talking to an insurance adjuster "I know when I've hit a brick wall and all I can do is suck it up".  I've met my brick wall here.

I was not mocking gay people. I was mocking the ridiculous idea that Trump will ban gay marriage. Not a belief that is exclusive to Gay people.

Like most identity politics Gay doesn't matter to me.

Trump will not directly block gay marriage, but conservatives on the SCOTUS may. Three of them were appointed by Trump, at the direction of the Heritage Foundation. Alito and Thomas have hinted at overturning Obergefell.

Why is this a bad thing?  The SCOTUS has already overturned Roe v. Wade and while the genocide of the unborn continues in America it is a step in the right direction.  Obama and most democrats were all very vocal against gay marriage.  People warned us that if gay marriage is allowed it will be a slippery slope.  We now have men pretending to be women, kids who think there are more than 2 genders, etc.  We have reached peak clown world.

Uncle Miltie, Dame Edna, Geraldine and Big Momma would like a word. Men dressing in drag is not new or clownish. Gender and sexuality are very personal. I don't understand why the government needs to inject itself.

I think they are over reacting and should give it some time.  But interesting that some are now emboldened to try and normalize the end of gay marriage as a new agenda for them.

Trump has the Supreme Court and can if he wants turn over gay marriage.  To me as a gay man, I can understand to a point.

Yes.  Overreacting.

No, Trump can't turn over gay marriage.  Only the Supreme Court can.

On January 20, the Supreme Court won't be any more conservative then it's been the last 4+ years.  And will have the exact same justices it would if Harris or Biden was being inaugurated.

Trump has nothing to do with it.

This is true.

I think it's not just Trump but the fact that Trump was even elected at all, as well as Republicans taking the house and senate.  States around the country have expressed lack of support for the trans community (we've talked about that ad nauseam so no need to go there again), as well as the drag community, some feel the next jump is the gay community at large.

R v W was repealed and states made very strict laws, so the idea of gay marriage being taken away isn't as far fetched in some people's minds.  With a "they're coming for you next" kind of rhetoric.

I've read polls that while support for gay marriage remains high, it's falling amongst republicans and they won the recent election.  The anti-woke, anti-identity politics (which I think republicans are more into identity politics, but I'll set that aside), assertiveness of Evangelicals into the party do make people like myself take notice.

I said they were over reacting but I also see why.
