QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Drag is a stage performance. It is a glamorous and exaggerated performance of men dressing as women. Up until recently, drag queens didn't belive they were actual biological women.
I think there is a fundamental difference between drag and trans.

Even if this was true, and it's not, proper mental care in this country is rare because there is no profit attached to it.
When I was young, females wore mainly dresses and skirts, and now, they do not. Is this a result of psychosis or childhood trauma? I can tell you, always having cold legs and worried about how to move without showing one's underwear was pretty traumatic.

Psychiatrists can hit a million a year with a well running practice. Mental health is actually a goldmine. How many millions of Americans are on SSRI these days?
Fashion trends among females has nothing to do with men pretending to be women because they were probably molested at a young age by a man or have some severe chemical imbalance in their brain.

The poster she was responding to was "now we have men pretending to be women" and J22 corrected pointed out that wasn't the case, that men pretending to be women has a long history.
Drag queens don't actually believe they are biological women. Drag queens understand they are male and entertainers. Most live as men outside of their entertainment life such as Rupaul.
There are sometimes cross over, in the drag entertainers are sometimes transgendered.
Trans women (and men which you aren't talking about) don't believe they are "actual biological women" (or men). They understand very well the biological sex they were born with.
It's also not a recent phenomenon. The first sex reassignment surgery was in Europe in the 30's. (They made a movie about it called "The Danish Girl").
They've been around a long time. I think it's only been recent that they've started to come out as trans (maybe in the 90's) as Pride and queer presence made itself known. It definitely is a recent issue with the bathrooms, sports and youth treatments.
The only correct statement you made was the last one. There is a difference.
It is doubtful the poster (who I have on ignore but saw it in J22's post) was talking about drag queens though, but rather transgendered persons. Many people don't believe in transgenderism and that they are "men pretending to be women" or as one politician put it "a man with fake boobs and a dress".

Children who can't make a decision for themselves are taking drugs that are not proven safe. Schools take it upon themselves to decide that parents shouldn't be notified about their children wanting to be called by a different name or wanting to use the opposite sex's bathroom. Trans girls share hotel rooms with other girls on a school trips without notifying any parents or students. Trans women are allowed to compete in women's competitive sports.
It's easy to understand why some think think the govt needs to intrrvene.

I suppose this is based on your vast professional experience in the behavioral health field? Other posters have made unverifiable claims and then say they are experts in their field.
Yes, millions are on SSRIs, not prescribed by psychiatrists, with only a 20% efficacy.
I hope that your view that transsexuality is caused by trauma as a child is not your personal experience, and if so, you are getting the professional treatment deserved.

Parents and kids deserve informed consent before their kids get treated. Licensed providers are already regulated.
Schools should be a safe place for children to explore who they really are. Choosing a different name is not that uncommon.
Stories about sharing personal spaces are designed to stir fear, and are isolated. That doesn't need government intervention.
It's up to different sports organizations to determine eligibility.

I do not think I said anything that isn't in line with what you just posed?
Thank you for the summary. However you don't want to discuss it because you have already discussed with long time members. So let's not.

That's your opinion, and on some of that I agree.
You said you "didn't understand" why some think the govt needs to interject. I was simply trying to give you some things to consider so that maybe you'll have some level of understanding.

You made some inaccurate statements and I addressed those but that would be a good place to just leave it.
I believe trans women should be considered woman in society (but respect that sports organizations should make their own rules) and I do not what to debate whether or not trans women are "men pretesting to be women" or the fact that they were biologically born a man and thus are always men, or even which bathroom they should use. We've been there and done that, so I appreciate your respecting that.

I never said mental illness is a new thing, just that it is significantly on the rise. Crossdressers likely have either psychosis or a longstanding history of trauma, particularly in childhood. These people need to the proper mental health care. As for Gender, it's not a personal thing. You either have a penis or a vagina, its that simple.
