This was interesting in the news today...

The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Perhaps queer people are over-reacting, but I was referring to something I was reading, similar to the article below.

Remember I posted earlier an article that the queer community was one of the only groups to actually decline in their support of Trump.

So yes, Trump is inspiring gay people to get married.  Yay gays!

They are one of many gay couples in recent weeks who are rushing to get married, start fertility treatments and take other measures out of fear that some of their rights might be rescinded during a second Trump administration.

Because they are getting married before Trump reverses gay marriage or something. Helping to take the plunge. Or speed up their marriage plans. Might lead to more divorce but good for them.

I just read the article.

Yes they are overreacting.

Interesting they'll always remember Trump when they think back on when they decided to get married.

As you've said often, crazy times.

I see your sarcasm and again don't appreciate it as it's immature.  But you do you boo.

Meanwhile I'll look for my sense of humor.

Okay. And I'll try to be less sarcastic.

There's a time and a place imo

Not to mention you've made me this promise before.  That's okay.  You do you.

DeSantis to replace Hegseth as Sec Def?

Apparently a local sheriff that was nominated by Trump withdraws his nomination for DEA.  I wonder  if partly because Republicans aren't happy he arrested a pastor for having church defying a lockdown order.

DeSantis locked Florida down.  When I traveled lately I saw an official sign "Welcome to the Free State of Florida" at the border partly because we don't lockdown or have mandates. Never mind our death rate surge was one of the highest.

His county is one of the few here that went for Biden.

Interesting times.

Time and place is very subjective.

We should both work on our promises.

Yes I was thinking that this just puts Trump in the spotlight and in their heads.

I am always working on myself, looking at myself, listening to criticism and learning.  I'm far from perfect.  I extend to you the same grace.

Time and a placed are indeed subjective.  You mocked gay people and their concerns and I am gay.  Wrong place and wrong time.  For me.  But you do you.

Again, discussion between us seems futile.

I told my friend the other day when talking to an insurance adjuster "I know when I've hit a brick wall and all I can do is suck it up".  I've met my brick wall here.

It won't be a happy memory but matter of fact, perhaps at a dinner party.  "We were going to wait until October but decided on December before Trump was elected."  Most likely the audience will be sympathetic and nod their head that they understand.  Hopefully someone will then say "aren't you glad it didn't happen?"

I think they are over reacting and should give it some time.  But interesting that some are now emboldened to try and normalize the end of gay marriage as a new agenda for them.

Trump has the Supreme Court and can if he wants turn over gay marriage.  To me as a gay man, I can understand to a point.

There are also two safeguards in place — a Supreme Court ruling and federal law — that make any attack that might come on same-sex marriage, whether from the executive branch or elsewhere, tougher to make. Two major factors, however, have LGBTQ advocates concerned.
