The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Quote

Mexico is stopping nearly three times as many migrants who have crossed its southern border as it was a year ago, a trend that U.S. officials say has helped blunt the surge in crossings of the U.S. border usually seen at this time of year.

Biden administration officials also point to the increased help from Mexico in slowing migration as proof that their relationship with their southern neighbors is more effective than the Trump administration's.

Quote

U.S. officials say Mexico's willingness to interdict more migrants, a costly process, is in large part due to increased dialogue between the two countries on issues like immigration, fentanyl and illegal firearms trafficking.

Both Biden and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, known as AMLO, recognized the severity of the problem at the end of last year when Mexico's funding to stop migrants ran low and the number of migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border surged to record highs.

This must be why Texas attorney general Paxton had time to travel to NYC to don his blue suit/red tie outside of the election interference trial.

We can read your comments and your comments reflect your values and ethics and thinking, just like you see mine reflected in my remarks.  The best way to not be perceived as a Trump zealot is to not act and speak like a Trump zealot.

Your story life story isn't the topic of discussion.

Your comments about not loving Trump and not hating Biden don't really fit with your comment pattern.

I challenge your assessment of Biden's cognitive skills as compared to Trump's.  I think you are flat out wrong.  I have that opinion because I watch their speeches on YouTube.  I've been paying attention for a long time.

While I am definitely biased toward Biden, my bias is bolstered by Trump's sociopathic behavior.  My POV is strengthened by Trump's musing about ignoring parts of the constitution or having multiple terms. My POV is appropriate when Trump speaks of resolving the war in Ukraine by giving Putin what he wants. Or when he talks about pulling out of NATO. What is your POV and opinion about their cognitive status based upon?  Rhetoric? Snippets and excerpts?

I think every American has heard Trump and Trump surrogates and sychophants say that Trump's legal cases are politically motivated.  That messaging has been repeated on every media outlet and platform.  Some people believe it because it's repeated often enough.  There's lots of that Trump messaging all over social media.  When baloney is repeated often enough people will begin to believe it.

The only people that see the border in the way you describe are conditioned to believe that by their narrow media choices.  IMV

Did you, with your own eyes see that Republicans, at Trump's request, indefinitely stalled the bipartsan legislation that would have improved and modernized the process for legal immigration that you would like? The bill that would have increased the capacity for vetting asylum seekers? Did you see that?

Again, I soundly disagree with your assessment.  You're going to take the driver's license from an elderly man who has been competently driving for some time and give it to the crazy guy who says that he is going to slash the tires and put sugar in the gas tank if we don't let him drive.  Oh, that guy is also old and confused in addition to having mental illness.  The last time Trump was driving, he experienced a mechanical emergency with the vehicle and he lied to all of his passengers while ignoring the advice of the mechanics and engineers for a long time.

Yeah, you have other options than to vote for the crazy guy.

Yeah yeah..... I know. If you vote for Trump you magically morph into a racist....... this or that..........terrible person.........

Just like some redundant radical group may or may not support Trump means Trump is also guilty of their sins.

However Biden gives a eulogy to a kkk member and it's perfectly fine. You know, because the guy he gave the eulogy for only use to think lynching, hanging and enslaving black people was a good thing....

Oh and when exactly did Biden have a cognition assessment last? And do you think the American people would be bestowed with such information? Never and far left radicals like you  with Trump hysteria wouldn't even care.

I have a picture of me at Pride during the Bush years in front of a gas station with prices over $4.50 a gallon here in Florida.  Way back then it was outrageous.

But anyway, 20 stations are participating in a protest of Biden's "war on energy".

I don't think it's quite fair to not mention covid and its influence on travel and low gas prices when Biden took office.

What's interesting is right under that paragraph is a link to a story about gas prices dropping.

"Prices at the pump dropped four cents this week due to low oil costs".

Here's an alternative story from December of last year.  I'm not sure how to reconcile Biden's "war on energy" with record setting oil production.  *shrugs*

Can one reconcile lies and propaganda with truth and reality?

We aren't dealing with normal conservative politics or politicians here.  We are dealing with dangerous authoritarians who have zero motivation to speak truth to their indoctrinated cult.  That voting base is exactly like the old tale of the frog in the pan of water. They won't realize they were fooled until its too late for them (or us).

If you (generic you) vote for Trump you don't find his disqualifying character traits or dishonesty objectionable enough to turn you away.  You aren't swayed by civil liability for sexual abuse or defamation or fraud when you choose to vote for Trump.  You are OK with voting for a guy who lied to you about a national security and public health crisis. It says something when people will voluntarily associate themselves with someone who tried to overthrow their government and continues to lie about the 2020 election.

It sounds like you weren't raised with the Midwestern idioms  of "lie with dogs, get up with fleas", or "birds of a feather flock together". It is nice of you to speak on Trump's behalf though.  Regardless of your faith in Trump's character, Trump seems to be associated with lots of dishonest or unsavory characters.

It would seem that if Biden's cabinet was concerned about Biden's cognition or mental health (like Trump's cabinet members were concerned about Trump's) we might hear rumbling about that concern and see evidence of erratic or alarming behavior. Regardless, Biden is clearly sufficiently cognitively intact to understand that he shouldn't brag that he took a MoCA test like Trump does. Trump talks about getting tested like it's an IQ test and he scored highly.  He continues to distort and tell stories about it today.  It's almost like the closest advisors lied to him about the purpose of the assessment and he really doesn't know the what, when or why of using that test.

No, no, you don't love Trump... you just repeat his rhetoric as if you have no specialized training or knowledge about things like cognitive assessment.

Right.... you would hear from Bidens cabinet if they were worried about his cognitive status! Hahaha

The cabinet of shrils and expert propagandist who would never criticize Biden no matter what. You are a perfect example of that.

Or they may not see it due to the fog of Trump hysteria. Perhaps they are forgetful too. Care givers for people with dementia have a higher risk.

Well Biden "laid with a KkK dog. But don't worry, the kk dog only use to carry fleas that liked to lynch black people. So all good!! He only use to have fleas.

You laugh because you probably didn't know that Trump's cabinet was concerned about his mental health.

There is definitely a fog at play here that keeps people from thinking clearly about Trump.  You criticize Biden's eulogy for a former KKK member while Trump has dinner with actual current neo Nazis and he's endorsed by white supremacists.  That makes you feel better about your vote, if you can convince yourself that Biden is the same.  I see you.

Nick Fuentes?  Trump didn't know he was a "supremist " it probably didn't come to mind because he was accompanied by a black man.

But apparently black people can be white supremist too right? Especially if they are Republicans .  🙄

Nazi? All meaning of the word lost. New meaning: anyone who doesnt agree with far left ideologues

Biden knew the man he gave a eulogy for was a  KKK member who use to think lynching, hanging and enslaving black people was good. Maybe he forgot?

Forgot how in his last embarrassing public speech that COVID happened when he was vice president 😳.

Pretty sure the high profile rapist are democrats who would/did/will vote democrat. I guess that means if pedophiles vote for Biden or "endorses" him hes a pedo too? Who knows what skeletons voers have in their closets and our politicians have no idea whos voting for them.

You see me?  Very strange thing to say. Good thing you can't sniff me.

VP Biden gave the eulogy for W.VA Senator Robert Byrd who died in 2010, left the KKK in 1940's acknowledging his "greatest mistake".  He was Majority Leader 2x. Byrd's views changed considerably during his lifetime: and by the early 2000's he had completely renounced racism and segregation.   Yet NeoNazis official met with Trump at Mar A Lago with just a whimper of dissent on the right.

Right. And I am so sure any republican would be afforded the same grace as Byrd. Not buying it. Byrd only changed positions because it wasn't going to get him any benefit and was no longer acceptable.

Who was this "neo nazi" at Trump's home?  🤔 The one who showed up with a black man? You see, most reasonable people would not consider a person who is friends with a black man sharing a meal is a "nazi".

Perhaps he was telling Trump that being a neo nazi was too his greatest regret?

Oh and if an actual nazi, not like the new neo nazis that can be black and Jewish, according to some far left ideologies, were to say the same and denounce racism and the holocaust would that be okay?

Nah. Democrats have set the precedent.  No forgiveness for Byrd.

He did acknowledge he made mistakes, but I don't know that I believe he ever sincerely renounced racism.

He used an intentionally derogatory slur on TV when he was in his eighties.  Criticized Bill Clinton for his support of gay marriage.  Neither of those woukd be considered a youthful mistake.

In addition to his KKK membership, he voted against the Civil Rights Act.

I wonder if he would have been so revered in his old age if he had been a Republican.

Is there an example of a prominent republican admitting their racism and then taking observable steps to change their legacy?

We should hold Trump to the same level of scrutiny and political accountability, right?

Umm ... the guy's dead. Your disinclination to forgive is irrelevant.

On the other hand, Biden's history of maintaining mutually respectful, even friendly, relationships with people on the opposite side of a political divide is legendary. I suspect that it's been at least partially responsible for his administration's legislative success.
