The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

That's definitely ignoring climate change and pretending that it's not expensive to ignore it. DeSantis even removes the language from state documents he so committed to climate change denial.

Nope.  The legislation boosts natural gas production and development of nuclear energy.  That's not ignoring climate change.

And, they are getting rid of meaningless, feel-good measures such as state meetings and conferences can only be held in certified "green lodging".

It's common sense legislation related to climate change.

That's your opinion.  You are welcome to it.

This seems like good news.

El Paso, Texas — Illegal crossings along the U.S.-Mexico border in May are down by more than 50% compared to the record highs reported in December, giving the Biden administration an unexpected reprieve during a time when migration has historically surged, according to internal government data obtained by CBS News.

This happened in Alaska this weekend.

First came the anonymous report in a right wing media outlet.  Next came the publication of a female parks employee name and personal information.  Then threats to the woman and her family came from the very conservative and patriotic readers of the anonymous story.  Finally, the outraged group was bolstered by a letter to the NPS from Senator Dan Sullivan who picked up the fabricated tale to spin the outrage on social media... so they had a flag parade from Fairbanks to Denali (2.5 hour drive).

I guess gas prices and the economy aren't that concerning.  Too bad those angry people missed all of the Memorial Day ceremonies and opportunities to honor the fallen in their military town.

The "personal information" published about her is not what you were implying.  And, I can't find any reports of her and her family being threatened.

How are you so sure this is a "fabricated tale"?

Here is a article from the media outlet detailing their efforts to confirm the story and their take on the response, and lack of response they received from the two sides:

Interesting story. It does seem outrageous that an official would tell someone to not fly the flag, so that's suspect to begin with.  But what bothers me is why it's a right vs. left issue?  Is the Alaska Watchman a "right wring media outlet"?  Why would one of the protestors say "this is what happens when liberals take over".

I'm sorry you can't find that evidence of the harassment.  I saw some of the social media harassment with my own eyes, photos of the woman with derogatory descriptions of her personal beliefs.  People digging into her history and posting their opinions in social media groups. It was ugly.  Very ugly.

The NPS released a statement denying the story as written.  The anonymous source can't prove it.  The AK Watchman is a well known publisher of right-wing narratives and half-truths.  Lots of conservative conservative give them the benefit of the doubt and some are so zealous that the writings motivate them to action even though their facts cannot be verified.  Maybe you would also like to believe some of what they said.

Yes. The whole thing is ridiculous and unbelievable.

The construction crew is working on a bridge and road site that is two miles past the furthest milepost that Denali tourists experience when they ride the busses.  Any flags they might fly are not even visible to tourists.  There are flags throughout the park and in campsites.

Yeah.  The right wing media outlets understand their local audiences and are good at triggering them.

The issue, allegedly, was with flags on the trucks driving through the park.  You must not have read the article I linked to.   And, the NPS has not confirmed or denied that.

I don't know what is or isn't true like you seem to.  I was only pointing out there seems to be more to it than you presented.

If the unsubstantiated accounts of her or her family being harassed are true, I agree there is no place for that.

I read about it.  The NPS denied the incident happened.

The story is not true.

It's an anonymous story that cannot be verified published on right wing media which routinely publishes titillating but inaccurate reporting and opinion.  We know who that crew is.  We know who was driving through the park to the work site.  That's not a secret.  Not one of them will go on the record repeating any part of the story.

It would be so out of character for a subset of Trump supporters to get carried away by a story intended to agitate them and act out their anger or outrage with threats, wouldn't it?  That was sarcasm.

Kinda like Nick Sandman and the "racist black face boy" who was wearing a headdress and face paint at a foot ball game hearing his team.?  Who is Native American?

Kinda like that?

Not at all like the Nick Sandman incident.  Your facts seem wrong.

Anyone could have called into this contractor pretending to be park manager, as doxing popular these days.

In these social media days, no one VERIFYS  with secondary sources info they are being fed.
