QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

QuoteOn Tuesday, a fake "manifesto" attributed to Fanone was sent to a number of email addresses, including some associated with a high school that Fanone attended for a year more than two decades ago. The "manifesto," viewed by NBC News, claimed that the writer had killed their mother and planned to go to the recipient's school on Wednesday and shoot more people. It provided Fanone's mother's home address.
That night, Fanone told NBC News, his mother opened the door to law enforcement while in her nightgown, "mortified" to find SWAT team officers at her home.
"How dangerous is it to send law enforcement to an address in which you essentially are describing an active shooter, in which the only person present is a 78-year-old f---ing woman," Fanone told NBC News. "This is the reality of going up against or challenging Donald Trump. ... These swatting calls are incredibly f---ing dangerous, especially when the target is somebody like my mom."
Trump supporters taking dangerous action because of their feelings. What percentage of Trump supporters are radicalized to act upon their feelings in dangerous and threatening ways?

All this is according to one Trump-hater. In light of you a NRSKarenRN comments above on another topic, I have to ask if anyone has verified this story happened as told? I don't see that it was confirmed thst any SWAT team showed up at his mother's home.
I can actually walk a few blocks and see the Skyway Bridge (pictured above) that connects my county with the county south of here over Tampa Bay. The county south is much more conservative and apparently the county objected and the lighting of the bridge for Pride wasn't going to happen anyway, but DeSantis is going to make it sure. The county also objected to the bridge being lit up for gun violence awareness and that isn't happening either. It's also been lit up for support for Ukraine and even Israel which apparently they didn't object to.

These type of divisive cultural issues will get really interesting if the zealots take over the white house with the next election. When rules and precedent and laws no longer matter there are no guard rails to limit the tyranny. The south may not be safe for a number of Americans if Trumpublicans get their way.

Ya ya..... That's what you all said in 2016. ....
"The south might not be safe"?? Propaganda much?
Last time I checked many blue states are not safe now. For anyone. Especially in Chicago . For POC mostly.....

Sounds like many are punting and don't want to make the decisions when various groups request lighting it.
DeSantis wants all bridges red, white, and blue for the Summer. I don't think he is "making sure it doesn't happen", but IDK. It's been lighted for pride in the past.
I've been over the skyway a few times. A very cool bridge!

I live in an oasis of liberal thinkers in Florida and love it here. But I'm actually considering moving when I retire. I was hopeful that things will be okay even though they are republican and won't get so crazy. My brother-in-law's new girlfriend has a transgendered daughter that moved Canada because she didn't feel safe here and wasn't sure she would get the medical care she needs in the future. There's also been a brain drain as professors have taken jobs elsewhere. Crazy times.

This strengthening of oversight was overdue. In my experience, WA state tends not to upgrade programs or systems until a problem arises.
Even though it's the home of Microsoft, online government platforms are horrible, IMO.

You must not be familiar with the current violent crime data which shows the states enjoying the highest rates of murder, etc.
Here's a Forbes article which might help you with that confusion.
https://www.forbes.com/advisor/legal/criminal-defense/crime-rate-by-state/
Here are the highlights so that you don't have to read the whole article.
QuoteKey Takeaways
Property crimes have increased in recent years, while the rate of violent crimes has decreased.
While murders surged during COVID-19, there was a 6.1% year-over-year decline in murders and non-negligent manslaughter in 2022.
More than 75% of murders in 2020 were committed with a firearm
New Mexico, the most dangerous state, has more than six times the rate of violent crime per 1,000 people than New Hampshire, the least dangerous state.
Southern states account for two of the five most dangerous U.S. states.
States in New England account for four of the five safest U.S. states.
It's OK if you think LGBTQ+ Americans will be safe in increasingly intolerant and agitated havens for right wing social grievance. You are welcome to your Trumpian opinions which seem to strain against reality.

Yeah . They have to strengthen oversight that would allow a group like MfL to provide educational contact hours for continuing education. What a crazy group.

What is more alarming to me not that people don't verify... it was a dumb story to begin with...but that they take action based upon how they feel about the unverified story.
In my view, that willingness to take action is evidence of radicalization. Who and what radicalized them?
