Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!

Published

Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.

Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle

When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)

To the young lady with the very large bust (I never thought I would say this)...Please try to cover the 'girls' when you come to class, I am here to learn. And by the way, whatever that undergarment? is that shows by 2" under your blouse and still doesn't cover you much makes you look like a hooker, not a nurse.

I am all male, but class is not a club.

No, that would be more to protect yourself from getting it. We had many cases of H1N1 on the unit I worked on. We wore masks around those patients, yes. To keep from getting it ourselves AND from spreading it then to others.

I cannot imagine anyone who had the flu, H1N1 or regular, would've felt like going to clinical. Also, as students we are not fit-tested for the N95 masks, thus are not allowed to care for any patient on respiratory precautions. Our instructors would certainly have noticed if we were walking around wearing N95 masks!

Yes, it would protect you from spreading it also. Like reverse isolation for neutropenic patients. They were worried that the staff that had contact with the patients would spread it to others. The hospital I work at/ do clinicals at REQUIRE, that all staff, students, volunteers, etc. be fitted for a N95 mask. If you are not fitted, you may not represent the hospital in any sense.

To my fellow classmate in the back row: PLEASE turn your stupid cell phones OFF during class, or at least silence them if they start vibrating! The vibration in your backpack has got to be the most annoying sound EVER!

To my Nursing class president: I really don't appreciate when you hold class up for 20 minutes (four days in a ROW) just to try and decide what our class t-shirt should be. I worked all night, got off after a 12 hour shift RIGHT before class, and am really looking forward to going to bed before my next shift... that night.

To my nursing instructors, my clinical advisers, and to every nurse I work with that pulls me aside to "see/hear/touch something 'cool," thank you for your support. I want to be that kind of nurse when I earn my RN, ladies and gents. Thank you for being mentors, and thank you for being patient with me when I ask a million questions during clinicals and at work. I love you guys.

Oh heres another one...

I had to go to a clinical site a 2 hour drive away. I don't have a car, my sister totalled mine.

4 other nursing students who live near me had to travel to the same site. All knew I didn't have a car.

All 4 carpooled together. I took 2 trains, a tram and a bus (which took hours) to get to clinicals at 6.45am every morning. They knew that also.

I was later told I wasn't offered a lift because the woman who was driving only wanted to be friends with the "smart girls in the class" and thought that if she was seen being friendly with me then the teacher wouldn't think she was smart, apparently I'm an idiot because I'm only in my early twenties.

This woman also considered the teacher "her only equal"....and spent all clinical saying " teacher says I'm the best nurse here !!"

:uhoh3:

I am sorry you went through that! It is pathetic that adults will still go around acting like jr. high idiots! I am usually not a revengeful person, but just screw them and you give nursing school all you got!!:nurse::redbeathe:nurse:

I know that many people don't like the questions classmates ask but they love their own questions. You have to know that, what you think is a good question might not be a good question for another A student, they might say back " I can't believe she asked that question ahahaha"....I don't ask many questions and when I do I don't care what people think. I don't mind people asking questions ( I am patient). I just can't stand those who text during lecture and those that bring their laptop to look up pictures.

No, it's a stupid question when just minutes before the question was asked, the answer was given.

It's called not listening and taking time away from more important things.

If the teacher said "We will be testing on mobility competencies next week" and the student asks LITERALLY 2 minutes later "What are we testing on next week?" THEN ITS A DUMB MORONIC STUPID UNINTELLIGENT IGNORANT MOTHERFREAKIN QUESTION!!!!!

How come we have only five hours of lecture per week??? I would have signed up for an online program if I wanted, not an online program in disguise.

What has happened to education?

Are you in my program? I'm feeling the same way. Part of the time the 5 hours is taken up with busy work. Drives me crazy--I drive an hour each way to get to class to do something I could easily do at home.

Could you please not yell at the instructor. Even if she makes a mistake while we are doing math, could you please not raise your voice? Especially all of you at once? How unprofessional are you people? I swear, it's like mob mentality where I go to school. You wouldn't like to get up to talk to a class and have everyone yelling at you at once (although I would like to see that happen to a few of you some day). Please, try and keep your cool so she can work it out.

Also, I have had enough of the, "I saw...in clinicals" stories, and if you can't tell, all of the instructors are sick of them too. JUST SHUT UP!!!!

Just a few more weeks and this will all be over for another semester. Can't wait.

:uhoh3:

That is absolute despicable. I feel really ****** right now after reading that. I hope I never go through something like this when (if I ever) enter nursing school. :uhoh3:

I had one of those moments today where I wanted to yell to a girl "Why are you asking all this s***?!?!?!?!?!?!??! Read your d*** book!!!!!!!!!!"

Dear male classmate with gender superiority issues...

I did not enjoy being your partner at clinicals today... I know I have a pretty good chance of being your partner again this semester... Please, between now and then, figure out that I am your EQUAL and it is not OK for you to push me around on how to do basic skills that I've been checked off on, too. Seriously... get a grip. This is America, not your country of origin... Here, women are not inferior to men...

And for that matter, if you really feel this way, why are you entering a profession where you will be surrounded by (and possibly even supervised by) women as peers?

I have one more...

To the student who has no idea what personal space is: Please refrain from reaching over and sliding my clinical paperwork closer so that you can obviously read it and undoubtedly compare my work to yours. I know you were a doctor in your home country but now we are both nursing students; if you want to see it, just ask. Taking something and reading it without permission is rude. Also, I still can't believe that when we were taking our IV/PCA lab skills test that you swapped the old model IV pump that you had with the newer model that I had when my back was turned, because you didn't know how to backprime the old model. Maybe if you had come in to practice you would know how to use both models. Luckily for me I did practice and knew how to use both. But now I know that you play dirty pool for your own advantage and to keep my eye on you because you will screw others to save your own butt.

Oh, and please get your ignorant butt to class on time. I'm sick of you meandering in late EVERY WEEK and missing half of the exam because you casually strolled in 20 minutes late. At least I can enjoy the fact that you failed that test, because no way you finished it in the remaining 10 minutes we had left before time was up. :spbox:

I have something to say to my clinical instructor and since I can't find the post from 2008, I'm posting it on here.

To my clinical instructor:

1. It is NOT OKAY to call students fat, even if you think you said it in a joking manner, it was really hurtful to that student.

2. Stop picking favorites, especially the ***** who talks about everyone behind their backs. Guess what, I heard your "favorite" student making fun of you today behind your back!

3. No, I don't want to have working lunches. I need a break from all of you people. I can't stand 10 hours/day talking about nothing but nursing while getting no break to just decompress.

4. I can't wait until I NEVER have to deal with you again. I can't stand your personality, how you have NO FOCUS, and how all you do is talk about how great you are and how many lives you saved (for over an hour).

5. That staff is treating us the way they do because they can't stand YOU. It has nothing to do with us, it's all YOU.

That feels a little better. Only one more week, one more week.
