Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
Back to the topic...
I know it was posted somewhere before, but,,,,,,,
ON exam day, must there always be a group of studentsthat show up 15 minutes early, and sit there, flipping through their notes, quizzing each other on topics, and arguing with each other about certain points BEFORE THE EXAM??? This is un-needed stress added on to the rest of us THAT STUDIED and it makes us second guess ourselves. Do the world a favor and have your last minute study group in the parking lot. We had 3 WEEKS to study for this exam. Yes, you work, have a family, blah, blah, but as my teacher says "If you don't know it by now, then you don't know it." And, "If you have time to text and log onto Facebook every waking moment, then you have time to study."
I didn't realize that at our ages (and by that, I mean over the age of 17), breasts were still so distracting .
I guess I'm too busy listening to lecture to notice what everyone is wearing. I am one of the well endowed and unless you invest in a bunch of shapeless sweatshirts, people are going to know you have them. Even with modest neck lines, people will see cleavage. It happens. Unless you're showing up in stripper gear I could care less what you wear to class.....as long as you're clean and don't smell.
To my fellow foreign students:
I know you have your PhD in (insert major here) from India, Pakistan, Russia, etc. Or soem of you may have gone to medical school in your foreign country and have an MD (I don't know why you're in nursing), but pleaswe, stop having this "superior" attitude over the rest of us. You're in the same classes that I am, so as far as I'm concerned, we're equals. And enough with "We did it this way in my country." News flash: Welcome to America. If you don't like the way we do things here, the airport is open 24/7.
To the backstabbers in the class... Please don't include me when you feel like talking trash about a fellow student in the class and then act all buddy buddy when you are near said classmate.. it will only make me think you are mentally ill... seriously. I'm not in to that game, so just save it for someone who cares about your gossip about someone else.
To the classmate who walks around with a know-it-all attitude.. learn some humility... it will go a long way when you ask those questions that make it obvious you weren't paying attention... thereby indicating you really DON'T know it all... frankly, the attitude is kind of strange.
To those who spend all of skills class playing on facebook on their cell phones... careful... that's going to catch up with you... put the phone away and pay attention... you paid to be here, get what you paid for. You could stay home and play on facebook for free... Or not... I guess it's your choice... but I'd really like for our group to have the pride of all of us present on graduation day...
To those few who make comments about me and the other classmate who consistently are the first two finished with the exams AND make good grades... nope, we're not cheating... we study and pay attention in class. It really is THAT simple.
Here is a new one for me. Please stop spreading rumors that I must be cheating just because I make good grades with minimal effort. I don't appreciate the assumptions and accusation made SIMPLY because you can't fathom how you have to study for 6 hrs a day and barely pass and I don't have to. We aren't the same people and we don't learn the same. Furthermore, funny enough, if I were going to cheat, I wouldn't always be the first one done with my exam in the class 98% of the time and the other 2% I am the usually second or third one done, I wouldn't sit in the very first row right in front of the instructor and my friends that sit next to me wouldn't miss different questions than me. Use some common sense when you are making your assumptions.

Sadly, regardless of how much you study, if you're a quick tester and make good grades... people seem to assume that automatically equals a cheater...
Happens to me and a girl that sits behind me, too (consistently the first two finished)... but (for now, at least) a lot of the stuff just builds on itself, so paying attention in class and doing the reading/assignments is really all it takes...

Well the rumor was that I must be cheating off of the two girls that I sit in between, because they get good grades and we are all friends. Well if I cheated off of them wouldn't I need to finish after them?? LOL. We can not have anything on our table but our pencils and pens so it couldn't be I am using something else to cheat. I also sit almost directly in front of the instructor.
Oh well, people are dumb. lol
I have always been a fast test taker, I just get too impatient if it takes to long. I do it, check I marked right and turn it in. If I start second guessing and changing stuff I get it wrong so I have learned to try not and do that.
I don't feel bad at all that you failed your exam. You decided to go out & get drunk & woke up late for the exam. All your fault.
Stop making fun of her. She may not be the prettiest girl or as popular as you, but the difference between you & her is that she will succeed as a nurse, whereas your group will spend the rest of your life flipping burgers at McDonalds.
Stop trying to tell me what to do & argue with me. You make yourself look like a fool.
You are in the five year program & I am in the four year program. So tell me, WHY are you failing over half your classes? WHY do you go out every night until who knows when only to come running into my room later freaking out about the upcoming exam & asking for help? WHY do you make everything into a joke when we study? WHY do you not read your book prior to class? That way you can better understand what the professor will go over that day! DON'T complain when you don't understand what he is saying! He doesn't SUCK at teaching! He's a PROFESSOR. He PROFESSES what he knows! Maybe then you won't be failing his class! & WHY are you passing around a petition to FIRE HIM when YOU'RE the reason for your lack of misunderstanding?! WHY can you NEVER get off Facebook? STOP feeding your FAKE FISH & playing with your FAKE FARM! Are they REALLY more important than your education??? & how is that even FUN?
I don't know how the professor can be so patient with you. Why do you attempt to correct EVERY spelling error the professor makes? Why do you talk about the professor as if she's stupid when it's not uncommon for people, even professionals, to make minor mistakes as such? Just because you correct a professor does not mean you are smarter than they are.
Oh heres another one...I had to go to a clinical site a 2 hour drive away. I don't have a car, my sister totalled mine.
4 other nursing students who live near me had to travel to the same site. All knew I didn't have a car.
All 4 carpooled together. I took 2 trains, a tram and a bus (which took hours) to get to clinicals at 6.45am every morning. They knew that also.
I was later told I wasn't offered a lift because the woman who was driving only wanted to be friends with the "smart girls in the class" and thought that if she was seen being friendly with me then the teacher wouldn't think she was smart, apparently I'm an idiot because I'm only in my early twenties.
This woman also considered the teacher "her only equal"....and spent all clinical saying " teacher says I'm the best nurse here !!"
This woman sounds like the idiot, anyone who would do this to a fellow student is not nurse material in my book, she sounds like a narcissitic (sp) fool
To the 2 or 3 special students in lab today, THANK YOU for taking the time to explain to and guide the English-as-a-Second-Language student. I appreciate how well you paid attention and learned the material well enough to help him with it. YOu will be terrific nurses one day :redpinkhe Glad to have you in my class.

I know, right? I mean, none of us have seen the b@@bs in question that tyler is ranting about, and none of us have seen the b@@bs that Isabellah is defending, so why in the world is this argument still going round?
