The way people can be just amazes me

I'm not tooting my own horn here.

But i applied for a very challenging job positon, and i got it after the interview. Several people went for them (there were 2), and i got one. And i haven't said a whole lot about it, but you know how that rumor mill grinds!

Anyway, so when a classmate asked if i've gotten a job yet, and i said i had, and when she asked where at and i told her, her reply was "ha! what makes you think you have what it takes to do THAT!". After a brief, fleeting moment of where-do-you-get-off-being-rude thought, i said "well i guess i think highly of my capabilities, and have enough confidence in myself to KNOW i can do it, despite what some people seem to think or say". Yeah that was rude, but it also shut her up, too.

Thing is, quite a few people are saying things like "you're qualified enough? Really?" or "You REALLY think you can do that job?" or "They must be desperate to be hiring a STUDENT". And of course the ever-famous "you're just an LPN, SURELY you're going for your RN. Then you'll be a real nurse."

Just amazes me how rude people in school and the workplace can be, they don't even think before they speak. I've gotten to the point that where my job is concerned, if anyone makes a rude remark where my employment is concerned, i hope they're prepared for one coming right back to them.:angryfire No, it will definately not make me the better person, but it also sends the message across that what they are saying is beyond rude.:p

Congrats on the job! Obviously you have what it takes or they wouldn't hire you. Good luck! You're success will eventually speak for itself. I think it's great that you are challenging yourself. Good luck.

Some people are trolls. I know you're not going to let them bring you down.

Thank you.

And that's what i've told other students, too.

Comments like what i listed above are the #2 reason why i can't WAIT to be DONE with that CLASS!

hmmm in my CNA class we got our final class grades back and one of my classmates looked over my shoulder at mine and he remarked very loudly in a condescending tone "YOU got a 97%, how?". I fought the urge to kick him, but whatever some people are stupid. Ignore them and just chalk it up to jealously.

see now that is the type of comment that makes me want to put on my smart@ss cap and say anybody who has to ask how i got a 97% should not be surprised when they don't get one. honestly though what is the problem with people? I for one will be estatic if another classmate got a great job because it shows they are out there and i have a shot at one too!

That kind of remark makes me wonder if that person is jealous of you. You must be an excellent nurse.

marie, just take those comments with a grain of salt. you got the job and they didn't. it is envy, jealousy or any other unbecoming trait that is talking. you worked for it, you went for it and YOU got it. way to go. :)

Marie...congrats on the job! When people make comments like that, I really try to count to five or ten before answering or I would get myself into a heap of trouble! Good for you for standing up for yourself! WE all know you can do it!

Way to go!! You got what you deserved :)

Don't let other peoples own stuff muddy up your sparkling waters! A great reply I have found to say that always ends the conversation is...........

It couldn't happen to a nicer person!!!

Good luck and just keep to yourself and do your best. If people around you aren't adding to your life, they don't belong in it!

You go girl!! :balloons:

Miserable people love company, that's all there is to it.

Good luck and congrats!

I agree, those people are speaking out of jealousy/envy! Don't let it get you down! Just remember, when your class is over these people will be long gone and you're on your way to bigger and better things!

Congratulations! :balloons:
