CEU business idea
I would suggest finding a state nursing board (it doesn't have to be your state) that requires CEU's for re-licensure and go through them for providership. There are several different ways to that depending on the board requirements. I choose single course providership for two years and renewed after that. It was much more affordable than going through a large organization and the boards are happy for the business. There is a lot of paperwork and hoops to jump through, but it is worth it and once you do it, you have your template for renewal. Good luck!!

CEU business ideas
Hi! Thanks for the reply. I was beginning to worry I was really off base here!! I have contacted the AZ Board and they indeed have a mailing list one can purchase. Also thanks for the feedback on the level of interest of nurses taking courses. That helps! I was always very busy back in Kansas where I come from, teaching and having full courses. I know that nurses are very busy and not having to have CEU's might inihibit some interest in these courses. But I will continue to go forward and plan my offerrings!! Thanks again

CEU business ideas
In the past I had a provider approved (KSBN) program for RN/LPN's. I had several short programs on Alternative Modalities and a 100 hour Therapeutic Massage for Nurses progam. In Kansas CEU's are required for relicensure. I am residing in Scottsdale Arizona and am going to start the classes again. I have two questions that I would love some feedback on........ 1) Do you think Nurses that are not required to have CEU's (Arizona does not require CEU's for relicensure) would be interested in affordable education? 2) Any ideas how to market to Nurses in this area?? (Kansas had a wonderful weekly newspaper that went out to all nurses in the state, that I advertised in. I have yet to find one here in AZ) I would appreciate any feedback and ideas that might help me!! Thanks all.

I quit smoking and need advice
Congrats, and take all of the great advice you got from this thread. One more addition. I recommend that you get massages!! At least 2-3 a week for a couple of weeks. That will facilitate the removal of toxins and nicotine from your body and help with the craves. This really is a must for you at this time. Good luck!!

holistic healer
Please understand that his behavior was totally inappropriate and should not be dismissed!! Don't feel bad about what happened. You were taken advantage of and you trusted this practioner. You had no frame of reference as to what is acceptable. You should take action, ie: police, or better business burea, board (if he is even with a board) perhaps licensing with the local muni. And if you feel brave enough, have your husband ( or yourself) call this person and let them know that you felt taken advantage of and call him on his inappropriate behavior. The others are right. If he did it to you, he does it to others. Action on your part could save someone else from this problem. Most states have laws about proper draping of the breasts on females and they should be adhered to. Practioners should not be present during dressing and undressing. Your privacy should be honored and he should knock before entering the room. Also in the future, it is up to you, when you see a new person, to ask questions and make sure you are comfortable with the services being offered and that you feel safe. That should be your new responsibility. Good luck and let us know what happens. I am so sorry you had this experience and I hope you can learn from this and help others avoid a similar situation. In term of better living environment, Phoenix better or Kansas City better?
You are making a good decision to stay in KC!! Phoenix has now become the fifth largest city in the nation and with that, comes other problems. Traffic is horrible, the air quality is poor, and crime is increasing. And it is just going to get worse. We are planning on staying here for a few more years and moving on!! I would suggest that you stay on the Kansas side and take full advantage of the Shawnee Mission school district. It is very highly ranked nationally. You don't need to be concerned with air quality there. And of course crime is everywhere, but if you stay in the mid to Northern Johnson county area, it is not a problem. The cost of housing is more reasonalbe in KC than AZ and I think the quality of life (especially for your girls) is better in KC. The only thing that far outranks KC in AZ is the weather!! The nursing shortage is a national problem, so I wouldn't think finding a job would be too difficult. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions :)

In term of better living environment, Phoenix better or Kansas City better?
Hi Amy, I moved to Scottsdale Arizona from Kansas City, four years ago. I love it here and the weather is the main reason. I always wanted to live where I could go outside everyday. It is beautiful. I lived in KC (Mission) all of my life and loved it as well. I raised my daughter there and think it is an exceptional place to raise children, not to mention the superior academic opportunities there. If my daughter would have still been in school and living with me, I would have never have left KC. The school system in Arizona is less than medicore. I taught for eight years at JCCC and then taught here at Phoenix CC. The difference was huge!! The quality of education here is not good. So I would definatly encourage you to wait until your kids are out of school, or be prepared to find a good private school here. The cost of living is comparable, although housing has increased in the past few years. Let me know if I can give you any other information. Good luck!

dx with a lipoma today, ever have one?
I have seen lots lof patients with lipomas and would suggest that if it is not bothering you to just leave it alone! I have seen some who have nasty scars from having them removed and they were not having any symptoms with it. They are just little fatty tumors that are benign. Most likely you probably have other ones that are small that you haven't felt. I would recommend you just leave it alone! Good luck. PS- being a nurse is great!!!!

Z-coil shoes
I have worn them (I have three pair!!) for the past year and 1/2 and just love them. Especially if you are on your feet for long periods of time and on hard floors. They made a huge difference for my back and knees which were really hurting from the tile floors I was working on. I wear the clogs at work and have the hiking boots which are great in the desert mountains nearby and just bought the sandles for summer!! Who cares what they look like? You get to a certain point in your life when comfort far surpasses looks!! (I'm there). Plus I have had the greatest conversations with people that are curious about them. They're the best!

nurse appreciation gift
It is a wonderful idea to show your appreciation! Have you thought about movie passes or gift certificates? You can buy books of passes to theaters at a discount and AAA has some available at a discount. I would recommend something besides food :) Good luck

HOw To Start YOur Own Business
To: CMyst Very well done. You are an inspiration and I wish you much success. Just hang in there and you will have more contracts than you know what to do. You just need to educate prospective clients about your services and get your name out there. It can take a while until things start taking on a life of their own, so don't get discouraged. It usually takes a good two years when starting out to get busy. Looks like you are doing all of the right stuff. Good job:D
