The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Those overvalued properties, as well as trump's own lifestyle. suck up significant local resources financed by local taxpayers.

How so?

Oh boy.  That is some of Trump's "non-liquid gold" right there.  The determination that Trump engaged in fraud was made in September.  Trump was embarrassing himself in the courtroom where the penalty is going to be levied.

Do you think that Trump doesn't know that the common way to describe a non liquid is to use the term solid? He seemed really pleased, like that time that he discovered that US spells us as well as signifying our country.

Do you think Joe actually knows who he speaks to on a daily basis?

Trump is unfit for office.

Yes. His antics remind me of back in the day when NAMBLA tried to normalize pedophilia.

Certain behaviors should NEVER be normalized.

We're also going to place strong protections to stop banks and regulators from trying to debank you from your ... your political beliefs, what they do.”

I was scratching my head over this one and wondering if "debanking" was a made up word and he was babbling nonsense and what was he saying.

I Googled and apparently it is a word (in British English, not American), (although Google changed it "debunk" as did my spellcheck.   "To deprive a person or organisation (spelled with an s, the British way) of banking services, especially for political reasons."

So apparently he's talking about far right extremist groups being kicked off of payment platforms and fundraising sites like "GoFundMe".   Jim Jordan is in on it too.  Who knew?

Not having access to financial institutions and services is a problem for poor Americans.  Large profitable banks have historically employed punitive policy and practices which disadvantage the poor, and retaliation is a real thing in crony capitalism.

Having said that, victimhood is the new badge of honor in right wing Trumpian politics.

Former President Donald Trump was photographed Wednesday leaving his Manhattan apartment with a patchwork of red markings resembling blisters on his right hand—drawing mass speculation about the cause of the apparent affliction as Trump has stayed uncharacteristically mum on the subject.

Watch out SCOTUS. Remember what happened to Mike Pence when the former guy said he didn't have the courage.

He's exactly the type of guy who shouldn't have any kind of immunity from accountability.

GOP senators say there is less enthusiasm for former President Trump among Republican-leaning voters compared to 2016, a drop in voter energy that was apparent when only 15 percent of Iowa's registered Republicans showed up for Monday's caucuses.

Lawmakers acknowledge the weather was a factor behind the low turnout in Iowa but point to other signs of diminished enthusiasm for Trump, something that could hurt down-ballot Republican candidates in swing states.

In previous elections Trump has been a drag on other republican candidates.  That may be spreading to affect him as well.

Senate Republicans hope that Trump's problems will be balanced by lower enthusiasm among Democrats for President Biden, though they expect Trump being atop the ticket will drive Democratic voters to the polls in large numbers.

Another concern among GOP senators is that Biden will have a big fundraising advantage over Trump, who is pouring his resources into his legal defense in the face of four criminal trials and two civil cases.

Isn't this special?

Today, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis announced the filing of SB 1740 by Senator Ileana Garcia, which creates the Florida Freedom Fighters Fund. The fund would provide up to $5 million in financial support to Florida residents running for President who face legal, partisan, political attacks by the Department of Justice or State Attorneys.

"Well, I think I'm a lot sharper than her. I would do this: I would sit down right now and take an aptitude test and it would be my result against her result, and she's not going to win, not gonna even come close to winning,” he said in the interview.

Trump went on to repeat his claims that he has aced two cognitive tests, including one during his time in office and another he took more "recently.”

"I aced it twice. I aced it. But I would say that, you know, I've actually called for a cognitive test for anybody running for president because I actually think that's a good idea. It'd be nice to have an intelligent person be president,” he said.

It's kind of embarrassing that Trump to this day apparently doesn't understand what that cognitive test is. He thinks it measures intelligence and that might be a reflection of his actual intelligence.

The way he is engaging in agitated and confused word salad on his campaign/ courtroom tour, he's likely to get tested again.
