I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Howard Stern recently said that being called "woke" is a compliment.
On the 24th on Truth Social, Trump went on this tirade.
QuoteThe real Howard Stern is a weak, pathetic, and disloyal guy, who lost his friends and MUCH of his audience," Trump wrote. "Until just recently, I haven't heard his name mentioned in years. I did his show many times in the good old days, and then he went Woke, and nobody cares about him any longer. I don't know what they (really!) pay him, but it shouldn't be much. His influence is gone, and without that, he's got NOTHING - Just a broken weirdo, unattractive both inside and out, trying like hell to be relevant!"
This man will be the Republican nominee for President. Think about that.

He reflects the values of millions of conservative republican voters in language, tone and action.
Think about that.

Yes, the old "I like Trump, he speaks his mind and isn't politically correct" meaning "he says what I feel and think".
I'm not sure why I posted it, because I posted similar things during his last campaign, that he wasn't a mature, professional speaker, but a catty middle-school bully, and I should not expect him to behave in a way that reflects the highest office in the land because he never has.

You weren't the only one - several users here posted verifiable information about his racism, Nazi sympathies, shady and incompetent business practices, sexual harassment and chronic pathological lying.
That he has already lost the popular vote in two presidential elections gives me hope.
There's a few things to unpack in Trump's recent Truth Social Post a format that he seems to be using more and more than when he started it. I have to run to a staff meeting so I'll just post it. (The caps are his)
I imagine such tough talk is popular with his base.
QuoteThe Republicans lost big on Debt Ceiling, got NOTHING, and now are worried that they will be BLAMED for the Budget Shutdown. Wrong! Whoever is President will be blamed, in this case, Crooked (as Hell!) Joe Biden! Our Country is being systematically destroyed by the Radical Left Marxists, Fascists and Thugs - THE DEMOCRATS. UNLESS YOU GET EVERYTHING, SHUT IT DOWN! Close the Border, stop the Weaponization of "Justice,” and End Election Interference - WE MUST HAVE HONEST ELECTIONS. It's time Republicans learned how to fight! Are you listening Mitch McConnell, the weakest, dumbest, and most conflicted "Leader" in U.S. Senate history? HE'S ALREADY GIVEN THE DEMOCRATS EVERYTHING, THEY CAN'T BELIEVE HOW LUCKY THEY GOT. WE NEED NEW, & REAL, REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP IN THE UNITED STATES SENATE, NOT A CLONE OF MITCH, & WE NEED IT NOW!

Trump's language is popular with his voters. They believe that he projects strength. Notice how he campaigns to encourage Republicans to shut down the government but is certain that Biden will be blamed, similar to how he was certain that Pelosi would be blamed when he shut it down while controlling all branches of the federal government?
It's kind of funny that Trump somehow believes that he might not get prosecuted if he can get the government shutdown.

Indicted Trump Asks to Buy a Glock at Campaign Stop—Which Would Be Illegal
Quote
In a PR stunt gone terribly wrong, former President Donald Trump went gun shopping on Monday with Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and asked to buy a Glock pistol on camera—which would have brazenly violated the very same law that recently landed Hunter Biden criminal charges....
...The federal law that restricts how someone may buy or sell firearms is 18 U.S. Code § 922, the go-to statute for prosecutors seeking to imprison felons who manage to acquire guns after serving time in prison, straw purchasers who buy a gun with the specific intent to sell it to another person, and other people who aren't allowed to acquire them. That law is why anyone buying a gun from a licensed dealer must fill out what's called an ATF Form 4473, which asks: "Are you under indictment or information in any court for a felony, or any other crime for which the judge could imprison you for more than one year, or are you a current member of the military who has been charged with violation(s) of the Uniform Code of Military?”
Answer "yes,” and no gun shop can legally sell you a gun. Trump, who is facing criminal charges across the eastern seaboard, would have to answer in the affirmative....
Fox News allowed Trump to call into their shows anytime he wanted spouting lies without counterbalance of proven facts. Guardrails are gone. Increasing authoritarionism from a Presidential Candidate ....which started during his prior administration.
Democracy is hanging on 2024 election.
