The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

This is an example of Trump being divisive, being petty and creating an issue when there isn't an issue.  I want to see these giddy Democrats.  I didn't realize the 30 day flag code until now.  Certainly no way that Biden is going to raise them for Trump.

That all being said I think perhaps during an inauguration to honor the new president coming in the code could be lifted for that day, at least at the ceremony.

My hopes that him being Presidential and mature are being dashed every time he opens his mouth, or types something on social media.

Nixon ordered flags at half staff in honor of the passing of Truman, including during his second inauguration. Johnson passed 3 day later, so the half mast order continued.

I don't know any other president who would toss a temper fit over giving due honor to a statesman.

He thinks Carter's 30 days should be cut short because... Why?

He could have in a private or mature fashion asked for fully flown flags if it means that much to him for that one day. But the temper tantrum and Democrat Derangement Syndrome rant wasn't necessary.

While I agree his comments are petty and uneccessary,  it's also pretty easy to believe there are some "giddy Democrats" talking about it.  As, hearing of the talk from them would be the most likely reason he's even aware that the flags would still be at half-staff.

Maybe, but it literally wasn't on anyone's radar until he whined about it.  I guess my issue is he lies so much, that Democrats being giddy sounds more like Democrat Derangement Syndrome than  truth.

I've probably already posted this, but on the 20th, I am taking our flag off the front porch, Can't make it 'half-mast', but 30 days of no flag will be my comment about tRump's inauguration, Like anyone else will even notice.

I don't think that giddy is quite the right word. Just like I wouldn't say that Republicans were "giddy" when Biden's cognitive decline became frontline news. Giddy describes a feeling of joy and happiness which is not exactly being felt in this case.

Most people do gain satisfaction from seeing a narcissist being denied the attention that they seek. It might feel like just a tiny bit of justice is being served.

The timing of Jimmy Carter's passing, marking a century of his profoundly impactful and well-lived life, juxtaposed on the inauguration on the most self-centered and narcissistic individual, is a poignant and striking irony.

I think the democrats have launched a counter troll, and it worked!

Albeit they also removed the symbolic tribute to Carter and once again made it about Trump. They can't help themselves.

Mike Roman, Trump ally and co-defendant, brought forth the allegations about the DA. Her personal life has nothing to do with the case, other than to characterize her as unqualified. Per Georgia law the appearance of impropriety is not disqualifying.

The court disqualified her and removed her from the case. So that's the definition iof disqualification

explain this please? What symbolic symbolic trubute did they remove?  I've been working overtime and missed this story.  Thanks

But yes Trump will get zero support and constant criticism from Democrats.  It's politics after all.  And he makes it easy.  Buckle up

They disqualified her on an invented justification that is not found in Georgia law. It does not change the facts of the case that Trump and his co-defendants conspired to change the outcome of the election.
