I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

When people say "yeah he lies and says stupid things, but...." (people here have said that) That's a vote, and maybe a vote against Biden and Harris, not necessary a majority of Americans respecting him. In my opinion.
Obviously despite that a majority of people felt confident his his abilities.
I agree. Some votes were votes against Biden and Harris
No criticism from me!! LOL

What is working perfectly? What is the goal here? Do you think that it is acceptable to have a president that trolls other world leaders?
This is pretty descriptive of Trump's usual behavior though....
Trolling:
"Trolling refers to the act of intentionally provoking, upsetting, or misleading others, usually online, by posting inflammatory, irrelevant, or offensive comments or messages. The goal is often to elicit emotional reactions, disrupt discussions, or amuse oneself at the expense of others.
For example:
Posting divisive comments in a forum to start arguments.
Deliberately spreading false information to confuse or upset others.
Trolling can range from mild pranks to serious harassment, and it's generally considered disruptive and harmful behavior."

Yes. That's what he doing. Doesn't matter if I think it's acceptable or not. He does it and will probably continue. Who has been harmed by it? Other than irritating the radicals. Even Trudeau took it as a joke. He only slightly said something to appease his liberal cry babies in his party.
I think obsessive fanatics care and take his social media post way more seriously than other world leaders do. Who could call Kim Jung "rocket man" and still get him to agree to put the breaks on his nuclear weapon playtime?
World leader are not concerned with his name calling. Bigger things to worry about.
Besides, there are far worse things that can be said about Trudeau. Govener is a compliment.

"yeah he lies and says stupid things" but I'm voting for him anyway. That worked perfectly. I haven't come to grips with that yet.
Here the poster was "yeah he lies, but he's not demented like Biden". When Biden was taken out it was "yeah lies, but Harris.......".
It worked out well. Like the poster said, he's not going to change what is entrenched in his personality now. Although some unhinged things like "their eating the dogs, their eating the cats" have toned down, he still ran a campaign of relentless lies and junior high bullying and he's now normalized it and people don't seem to care, and he's the President. It is working perfectly.
Still, while every push back might be met with "yeah he lies and says stupid things, but he won the election and he won the popular vote" there's going to be push back.
QuotePresident-elect Trump's path to the White House has been an unprecedented campaign of disinformation, threats, divisive language, and dangerous policy promises. It's understandable to look ahead to the next four years with serious worry—but while we shouldn't underestimate the risk, we can't afford to despair. The challenges the planet faces are too urgent for complacency or cynicism.

I can see this point. What I would add is several times mostly my msm then repeated by some democrats , lies or fallacies have been yielded against Trump. Then later found to be false.
Or, and I know the difference between a civil riot in the streets and a riot at a US Goverment building during a constitutional process. However I think people compare the two anyway.
There was a dramatic difference in how the 2020 riots and Jan.6 riot were handled by democrats.
People see the general hypocrisy. So perhaps people do not belive Trump is lying? Or perhaps he really isn't? Not with everything. Maybe.
Or Trump's lies and bullying behavior is still better than a second democrat presidency? Again, a vote against Harris?
It would be interesting to know why Harris was so unfavorable that the people would give the vote to a "bully liar" over her?
I
Perhaps things like this make Trump seem more credible.
QuotePublic trust concerns lead to disqualification of DA Fani Willis

This does not erase the fact that he called the governor of Georgia and secretary state and tried to pressure them to create non-existent votes.

That may or may not be true but can you see why the entire case is discredited by Willis' actions? This is why people believe him. So the next there is a claim against him, people will remember this. If this ever goes to trial and a jury is the people who voted for him (Trump won Georga) it's likely that they would not convict him.
So this is one reason why people believe Trump. Whether he lies or not.

No, the entire case is not discredited by Willis' actions. The trial judge was satisfied that the trial could go on, after Wade left the case. The appellant court over stepped their bounds by ruling on the appearance of impropriety. I suspect they were slapping down an uppity woman.
Under Georgia law there are 2 reasons to disqualify a prosecuting attorney : conflict of interest or forensic misconduct. Neither of those occurred in this case.
Discrediting the prosecuting attorney does not change the evidence. We all heard a tape of that call. People know he tried to cheat, they just don't care.

It's really only republicans that have brought up the riots of 2020 whenever someone brought up the subject of January 6th as is to point out hypocrisy. I can't tell you how many dozens of times I've brought up January 6th to have the subject changed to "what about BLM?".
Apples and organges in how they were covered because BLM was based on a brutal murder and Stop the Steal was a great lie.
They forget that 14,000 arrests were made in the Black Lives Matter movement. They just want to use BLM as a deflection because BLM was worse. The BLM protests were more violent and costly and more people died. So was World War II but we can't talk about Vietnam because of this?
I'm not sure how you wanted the press to react? They covered the story and condemned the violence nearly 24/7 for weeks and weeks on end. In the end the murderer is in prison for a long time.
Anyway, for the last time, I'll never understand how a bully liar became president. It's know it was a combination of factors but I still don't get it with many other upstanding honest republicans out there, that act like adults. At least DeSantis is intelligent and honest.
Oh well, he won the popular vote and the electoral college.
My news year's resolution is to let this rest.

Do you believe that what Trump said on that call is evidence that he was trying to cheat while being a member of a criminal enterprise?
