I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

But yes Trump will get zero support and constant criticism from Democrats. It's politics after all. And he makes it easy. Buckle up
Trump did make an appropriate and respectful statement about Carter.

I will continue to comment on the actions and statements on the President-elect.
FWIW, I am not offended by the word "giddy". I support Americans right to free speech, even if it offends Trump supporters.

Trump deflected the half staff flag for Carter "tribute" and the democrats deflected the half staff flag "tribute" for Carter by complaining about Trump. Now it's all about Trump.......again.
Yes it's all to be expected. The democrats with their insistent and malignant defamation of Trump contributed to to his successful presidential campaign. With their superior intellectual and experience you would expect them to have learned something. Apparently they have not.
Even Trump has toned down his rhetoric, you would think established experienced politicians would be able to do the same?
However they cannot help themselves. I guess because they lost, they have nothing to lose?
Beerman said:LOL....you mentioned in other comments about the trial. A trial hasn't happened. The facts of the case of not been heard nor has a defense yet been presented. But, you've made the judgment of guilt.
At the same time, most , seemingly including you, wouldn't be able to articulate the laws he's being charged with breaking and how he broke them. But yet, you've stated he doesn't have a defense.
It could have been argued until the cows come home that what he did do was wrong, and that could have been used againdt him in the election. But, instead, the criminal justice system was weaponized against him by an unethical prosecuter and he was treated unfairly. Youve made some comments proving how youve fallen for it, saying he diesnt have a defense. A defense isn't required. Proving guilt is.
In another case where he was found guilty by a bench trial, the judge is now saying not to expect any kind of significant sentence. Thus revealing more proof that this was just to ruin his election chances and that the case was a sham. "Convicted felon" was able to be used. Even in here, it's been used by a member several times even though he's admitted he didn't follow that case or have much understanding of it.
The American public saw this nonsense that some chose to ignore, and made him into a sympathetic figure. That is partially why he won.
Nice work, Trump haters. LOL!

Side note. Trump is no better and worse.

It's not a Carter "tribute". It's an American tradition that goes way back. When an American President dies the flags are flow at half mast.
Like I said, it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask that on inauguration day the flags be lifted. This will be the picture of his inauguration for the history books. He could have been mature about it.
But I can't tell you how to think about the world if your post makes sense to you it is what it is.

K. Insert "American tradition" for "tribute" if semantics are that important to you. I would think petty semantics would be a Trump behavior.
Yes it's a "American tradition" a way to "honor" and/or pay "tribute" to an American President when they die.
Trump was being petty and the democrats chose to highlight that instead of practicing the "American Tradition " and honor Carter. Instead here we are talking about word choices and how "one sees the world".
Thank you Carter for your service.

As I was saying:
"That was the whole goal of indicting Trump and putting him on trial. Democrats assumed their politically driven lawfare campaign would destroy him. Instead, you know, it had the opposite effect. Voters saw it for what it was: a corrupt weaponization of the law, and it backfired spectacularly. "
The president-elect held a press conference today. He said some interesting things. Some of the things that caught my ear:
He is going to rename the Gulf of Mexico, to the Gulf of America
Special Prosecutor Jack Smith executes people.
Hezbollah was involved in Jan 6
Using economic force to make Canada a state.

Or, trump saw the reality that he could be tried for crimes he committed, so he announced his candidacy early; hired legal team to file frivolous motions to draw the case out; verbally attacked everyone involved to the point of being fined for contempt; and tried his case in the court of public opinion. and when he was convicted, cried whee, whee, whee, about how he was such a victim.
Yes, Trump loyalists voted for him. But interestingly enough, even though he was running for years, he only beat Harris, who ran for 100 days, by 1.6%.
In my opinion, potential voters were just sick of him, sick of hearing about what a loser he is, and stayed home.

That's quite an interesting POV. Thank you for your opinion.
