I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

or did the remaining lawyers tell him they'd walk if he pulled off this stunt as negatively affecting TWO federal indictments???

They might be threatening to abandon him, especially because they have some pretty loud evidence to suggest that they won't actually get paid after he puts them in legal peril. Giuliani is having trouble paying his bills because Trump hasn't apparently paid him for years of legal counsel.
Who would have guessed? Oh wait, everyone outside of the cult knows that Trump is an untrustworthy liar.

If anyone claims they couldn't have guessed, they are lying. I remember writing about trump, complete with citations, and what a deadbeat he is during the '16 election. Of course, I was drowned out by the bots and trolls inundating the site at the time. Be that as it may, we've known for years that trump is a sleaze, a bully and a fraudster - insisting otherwise is willful ignorance. A dangerous indulgence these days.

But too many conservatives are so filled with partisan angst and propaganda that they will vote for Trump even knowing that he's a sleazy and corrupt bully and fraudster who tried to overthrow our government while hiding away our secret documents.

A source that Trump hasn't paid him? I only see stories that seem to want to suggest it. But those who read closely will see that they stop short of directly making that claim:

Giuliani testified to as much in the Dominion defamation case depositions. That case is still ongoing.

The precipitous fall of America's mayor
Quote
For the last three years, Rudy Giuliani seemed to roam the world with impunity as a kind of rogue ambassador to President Donald Trump, swatting aside concerns from US national security aides and diplomats as he carried out the President's bidding.
But new reporting suggests that the man once hailed as "America's mayor" was simultaneously pursuing his own fortune, and his apparent self-dealing is now under such intense scrutiny that even the President is seeking distance from his personal lawyer.
Wednesday marked a terrible day for the former New York mayor when scrutiny on him intensified with new reports on his business dealings from The New York Times and The Washington Post.
The stories paint a portrait of a man who traded on his close relationship with the President as he explored lucrative deals in Ukraine that would enhance the influence of his firm, Giuliani Partners, and his personal wealth.
The unflattering revelations come at a time when lawmakers are investigating the motives behind Giuliani's efforts to oust former Ukraine Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch – whether they were at the behest of Trump or Ukrainian officials who wanted her out. CNN has also reported that federal prosecutors are examining Giuliani's business arrangements as part of a broader probe of his business associates in an investigation that could include criminal charges ranging from conspiracy, obstruction of justice, campaign finance violations and money laundering.
Federal prosecutors in New York are looking into the ties of Giuliani and his associates had to Ukraine's state-run oil-and-gas company. And on Wednesday, CNN's KFile reported that Giuliani has given inconsistent answers about his connections to a Ukrainian oligarch who he previously said he had "nothing to do with.”
The tightening legal vise around Giuliani apparently led Trump to tell conservative radio host Bill O'Reilly on Tuesday night that he had no idea what the former New York Mayor was actually doing in Ukraine, as that conduct continues to get white hot scrutiny in the House impeachment inquiry.
In a pattern reminiscent of the way Trump dealt with his previous personal attorney Michael Cohen – who is currently serving a three-year prison sentence – the President suggested he was in the dark about Giuliani's agenda in Ukraine, despite weeks of impeachment testimony establishing the opposite.
When asked by repeatedly by O'Reilly Tuesday whether he directed Giuliani to go to Ukraine or to put heat on that country, Trump said: "No.”
"No, I didn't direct him, but he's a warrior, Rudy's a warrior,” Trump added. "Rudy went. He possibly saw something. But you have to understand, Rudy (has) other people that he represents.” He also noted that Giuliani had involvements in Ukraine over many years....
...Giuliani has said that he doesn't charge the President for his legal services. And the former New York Mayor defended himself on Twitter Wednesday evening calling The New York Times “#FAKENEWS.”
"I did NOT pursue a business opportunity in Ukraine, as they misrepresented. I could have helped them recover $7B in stolen money, but I didn't. Was paid Zero,” Giuliani tweeted....
https://constitution.findlaw.com/amendment14/annotation15.html
Quote"No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."
That "given aid or comfort" bit directly addresses Trump and his congressional sycophants who proclaim the innocence of the insurrectionists.
IMV, governors and state AGs should apply that amendment to Trump's cantata and remove his name from their ballots. We are, after all, a country of laws and those laws apply to everyone.
Trumps continues to show off his astonishing ignorance about the economy and tariffs. When the US imposes tariffs on imports, the importer pays it, not the country of origin.
QuoteEconomists of both parties said Trump's tariff proposal is extremely dangerous. Adam Posen, president of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, a Washington think tank, called the idea "lunacy" and "horrifying" and said it would lead the other major economies around the world to conclude the United States cannot be trusted as a trading partner. Although aimed at bolstering domestic production, a 10 percent tariff would hurt the thousands of U.S. firms that depend on imports, while also crippling the thousands of U.S. firms that depend on foreign exports, Posen said.
I think Trump is fond of tariffs because he thinks he is controlling other countries and it is a means of playing tough guy.

It seems the story you linked lays it out pretty well.

Trump canceled that huge press conference. He's blaming his attorneys for making him cancel.
