I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

LOL
Yeah, he was talking about his political opponents. Wait, doesn't Trump call this a political witch hunt? Doesn't that automatically make the participants his political enemies?
People will actually vote for this guy.
Sigh... to think that a former President would spout such malice while running for reelection: the CONSTITUTION applies to ALL, especially those who tried to silence my PA vote; reason DOJ going after YOU, appropriately.
Trump news today: Jack Smith seeks protective order over Truth Social 'threat'
Quote...the Trump campaign then issued a statement insisting his post was not a threat of revenge but rather "political speech".
"The Truth post cited is the definition of political speech, and was in response to the RINO, China-loving, dishonest special interest groups and Super PACs, like the ones funded by the Koch brothers and the Club for No Growth,” the campaign said.
Judge Chutkan is giving Mr Trump and his attorneys until Monday to respond to the protective order request.
Suspect Giuliani's trying to get ahead of Georgia DA Fani Willis potential indictment in coming weeks. FALSE accusations against 2 election workers-- who were passing "a ginger mint"during long vote count, ( not drugs like he accused them) lead to death threats when espoused by a former President on national TV.

Judge Orders Giuliani to Clarify 'Puzzling' Admissions About Smears of Georgia Election Workers
The former New York City mayor must, in effect, strip his admissions of 'caveats,' 'limitations' and other layers of legalese
Quote
A federal judge ordered Rudy Giuliani on Friday to clarify his "puzzling" concession that his conspiracy theories about Georgia election workers were false.
On July 26, the Donald Trump attorney and former New York City mayor admitted that he made "false" statements about mother Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea "Shaye" Moss. Giuliani also acknowledged that he "published those statements to third parties" and that "the statements carry meaning that is defamatory per se."...
...Unimpressed with the "unsworn" statement, U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell ordered Giuliani, in effect, to strip it of "caveats," "limitations" and other layers of legalese.
"Given the seemingly incongruous and certainly puzzling caveats contained in the Giuliani Stipulation, plaintiffs' counsel recounts efforts to obtain clarification from defendant Giuliani's counsel," Howell noted in docket entry reviewed by The Messenger....
Hope these ladies WIN their lawsuit . I thank President Biden for giving them the Presidential Citizens Medal

...Freeman and Moss sued Giuliani and the right-wing news organization One America News in 2021 over statements and broadcasts tying Moss and Freeman to a false conspiracy about vote-rigging in the 2020 U.S. presidential election in Georgia. Giuliani has previously denied the claims.
One America News agreed to settle the lawsuit last year for an undisclosed sum. The settlement agreement has not yet been made public.
QuoteAfter Donald Trump was arraigned for the third time this week, the former President's behavior seems to have garnered less attention than usual despite its radically alarming implications — and political experts think the cause could be "Trump fatigue."
Jared Carter, a Vermont Law and Graduate School law professor, told Insider people are tired of hearing about Trump's actions and have been for several years.

You didn't offer your own thoughts on the article. Here's another quote from your citation that better sums the total, I think;
Quote"The fact that most people don't pay attention to politics is certainly not unique to Trump," Enos said. "The idea that there may be enough cynicism about politics now, that's risen in recent decades, that people don't react to controversy in the same way is not unique to Trump either. What perhaps is unique to Trump is that he's exhibited such high levels of corruption."
What's unique is Trump's high levels of corruption.
And this;
QuoteEnos said Trump's actions should be especially alarming and problematic to Americans because of his efforts to attack a foundational part of American democracy.
"It's not something that people may think they've seen before. This is somebody that tried to seize the presidency of the United States, despite having lost," Enos said. "That's something that if it happens, undermines the whole functioning of our democracy. It'd be the gravest threat to our democracy we've ever faced."
Trump is attacking a foundational part of our democracy in the gravest threat we've ever faced.
How do we convince Americans that a vote for Trump is a vote against our constitution? I say that we can't convince people when they are influenced by lies in a cult of personality.

Agree 100% -- his ACTIONS are the cause of his legal woes which needs to be repeated 10000X to his cult supporters to understand.
While in South Carolina Saturday, his rant was over water pressure:
Trump goes on kooky rant about how long it takes to wash his 'gorgeous head of hair' same rant from 2019.
I just had 2 bathrooms renovated with new fixtures -one has hand held shower, other with rain shower along with new kitchen sink with spray faucet- all have great water pressure. Single flush new toilet. It was reported he placed paper documents in toilet while living in the white house -- does he abuse his plumbing in own homes?? Since he lives in two upscale golf communities along with a penthouse, maybe if he paid a real plumber to investigate can get issue resolved.
I wouldn't say that Trump is too exhausting for anyone to care, but he definitely is exhausting. I can barely keep up and frankly I don't always keep up but it's not because I don't care. Nikki Haley recently said "I'm tired of commenting on every Trump drama".
I'm exhausted by all of it. I'm exhausted by people that still claim Trump won the election and after a 240 year history of democracy that in 2016 suddenly the Democrats were able to weaponize government agencies against him and make up charges, and create a fraudulent voting system.
I guess "weaponizing" is the new buzzword.
QuoteRepublican charges of weaponization, however, constitute a textbook case of what psychologists call "projection”: displacing one's own unacceptable motivation to another person or persons.

At this point in time, if Trump or one of the Trump apologists in congress make a claim about corrupt behavior in Biden or another Democrat, the odds are high that the claim is a projection. Projection is a favored tool of authoritarian despots. Lots of Americans are learning that propaganda drives the republican political machine in the era of Trump.

The right wing doesn't have a corner on the propaganda supply.
What if they called a war and nobody came?
Quote"You know, I have this gorgeous head of hair – when I take a shower, I want water to pour down on me," Trump said. "When you go into these new homes, the new water drips down slowly ... You have suds, beautiful, nice, wonderful suds. A lot of money Procter & Gamble, all that crap that they sell, they say is good, probably cost them about 2 cents and they sell it for $10. But it takes 10 minutes to wash your hair."
I think what he's saying besides being narcissistic as always, is something I've heard before in that so-called water savers in showers don't help the environment because they talk longer to clean yourself, and he's always talking about inflation still being a concern.
