I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

NY Daily News 10/28/24 cover "Racist Rally"
QuoteDonald Trump hosted a rally featuring crude and racist insults at New York's Madison Square Garden Sunday, turning what his campaign had dubbed as the event where he would deliver his closing message into an illustration of what turns off his critics.
Guess he won a lot of NY votes with this rally! ---not.

Philly DA sues to halt Elon Musk's $1 million voter giveaway in Pennsylvania
QuotePhiladelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner on Monday sued to halt Elon Musk's $1 million daily giveaway to voters in battleground states including Pennsylvania, calling it an illegal lottery that skirts state requirements and violates consumer protection laws.
The suit, filed in Common Pleas Court in Philadelphia, is the first legal action challenging the controversial sweepstakes launched earlier this month by Musk's America PAC. It comes a week after the U.S. Justice Department warned the tech billionaire that the giveaway violates federal laws banning inducements to voters.
But Musk, so far, has ignored that warning and continued his pledge to dole out awards to registered voters in seven battleground states every day until Election Day. His PAC has given away more than $9 million — nearly half of it to Pennsylvania voters
My phone conversation with the Philadelphia Election watchdog group last week was "few lawyers would touch this due to Musk's deep pockets, needs to be PA government type lawsuit". Tired of elites thinking the laws don't apply to them,

We have lots of history that leads one to believe that money and influence are powerful shields against accountability to the laws which regulate the working class.
This pregame interview with the Spurs coach took a serious 13 minute detour into national politics and Donald Trump. He's interested in talking to young adults about who Trump was before he even ran for the presidency and what he's now grown into as an old man. Character is an important part of the coach's style and messaging. Winning with humility and losing with grace is not something embodied by Trump. He asked why would you make Trump president when you wouldn't hire him in your small business or when he does things that would get a child into trouble.

Are you an expertise on the law?
I imagine Musk has lawyers that consulted him who may disagree with the DA.
If it's illegal, it's interesting a DA is suing and not making criminal charges.

Don't you wonder if Musk always consults or listens to attorneys before doing or saying things?

True. The only purpose is to imply Musk is breaking a law while quietly only filing a civil lawsuite.
Most people will not pay attention to the details and will take believe that Musk is breaking criminal law.. As intended.
Like they woukd charge him criminally in a hot second.
This is acceptable election interference.

Musk isn't running for office.

Criminal charges are either issued as a bench warrant by a judge or a grand jury. Bench warrants are quicker and usually used when the accused is deemed to be a danger to the public. Grand juries take time to convene and review evidence.
A civil lawsuit is much quicker to file.

Exactly!
Quicker and just in time for the election.

It was bad. It's hard to believe that people want to elevate the judgment that gave us that show yesterday at MSG. Holy heck.
