I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Trump associate and political activist, Steve Bannon will report to prison tomorrow to serve his 4 month sentence as "political prisoner".

QuoteBannon told ABC's Jonathan Karl that he will continue his efforts to appeal his conviction — arguing he was following his lawyer's advice when he resisted the subpoena — but says he feels "great" about serving prison time.
"I'm serving my country right now as a political prisoner," he said, adding that a stay behind bars at the low-security federal prison will not "suppress my voice."
"If it took me going to prison to finally get the House to start to move, to start to delegitimize the illegitimate J6 committee, then...my going to prison is worth it," he said.
I bet this will boost the ratings for his post incarceration podcast. The Trump crowd loves this kind of stuff now, apparently.
Convicted felon Trump seems to be associated with criminals. Kind of makes sense that someone who disregards democracy.

Not to mention the 467 people that were willing to risk jail time on his behalf and got put in jail. The leader of the Proud Boys rotting in jail for a sentence over 20 years. Not to mention the others not incarcerated that plead guilty.

QuoteEven as former President Trump wades through a complex web of legal woes to avoid prison, some of his allies and associates are already facing that fate.
The big picture: A striking number of people closely associated with the former president have been sentenced to prison for an array of crimes that include contempt of Congress and campaign finance violations.

Birds of a feather flock together. In Trump's party of "law and order" that means that there's lots of charges and prison time for breaking laws.
Pastor Robert Morris flocked with Trump and now we all know that he had been grooming a young girl in his church and the church looked the other way rather than ask questions when they heard what they want to hear from the groomer. How many other birds are in that flock, Trump shed Lewandowski. And lots and lots of Trump staff and cabinet resigned their positions under pressure when it appeared they were misbehaving.
Check out Project 2025 to understand how Trump plans to staff the executive branch should he lie his way back into the Oval.
Quote"I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it,” Trump wrote on his social media platform. "I disagree with some of the things they're saying and some of the things they're saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”
I'm wondering how he knows nothing about Project 2025 but disagrees with some of the things in it?
Anyway, Trump obviously wants to distance himself from it, but it's not necessarily going well for him in that regard.

It's just weird coincidence that former Trump staffers created much of P2025. Russ Vought, who wrote a chapter of it, is the chair of the RNC platform committee. But we're supposed to believe that Trump doesn't know that. I'm sure he doesn't know Stephen Miller either, LOL.
Reminds me of an old, crude saying: don't urinate on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Exactly. Trump is a known liar and I have to take anything he says with skepticism or disbelief.
That said. Project 2025 is not Trump's idea or his blueprint, and he apparently is rejecting it. Doesn't surprise me as his ego wouldn't allow someone else telling him what to do.

I think that Trump recognizes that P2025 is not going to campaign well for him and so he denies having anything to do with it. None of that suggests that P2025 wouldn't be implemented in a Trump administration. Trump is a liar and opportunist. He would have exactly no hesitation in simply lying about his intentions, he's done it so many times before.

Google "Agenda 47"
Tweety said:I remember articles about "what a Trump Presidency would look like" but didn't know it was called "Agenda 47". Interesting stuff. But it does highlight what I said that someone else isn't going to tell him what to do.
I think that people manipulate Trump in politics because he really isn't about policy, he's about power. Do you remember during his term that close associates suggested that Trump's policy generally reflected the thinking of the last person who had his ear on the topic. John Bolton warned us that Trump was dangerous as POTUS.
Quote"stunningly uninformed," making "erratic" and "irrational" decisions, unable to separate his personal and political interests from the country's, and marked and manipulated by foreign adversaries.
Trump desires the presidency for power not for policy. Trump doesn't have much in the way of policy, he looks to others for credible policy language and that makes him susceptible to manipulation. We saw him manipulated by Putin on the foreign policy stage.

I rather like this one (bolding mine):
"The debate served as a reminder of what another four years of Trump would look like. More lies, grievance, narcissism, and hate. Supporters say they like Trump because he says whatever he thinks. But he mainly spews raw sewage...."
