I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

I didn't really see misplaced anger at anytime.
I understand that many don't think Trump is good presidential material. That's not new. Kind of a silly thing to bring up in a discussion of how bad the other guy was. No reasonable person could conclude Biden is fit to be president after watching that last night.
I disagree. The debate is a single event and Biden didn't collapse, he simply didn't perform well. Biden stumbled and mumbled while trying to recall facts and he lost his train of thought. Trump made stuff up out of whole cloth before wandering off into familiar rally rants.
Biden is an old but effective chief executive, Trump is an old felon who tried to overthrow our government after he lied to us about a pandemic that he had no idea how to manage. I think the choice is easy; competence over corruption.

Trump, meanwhile ranted and simply made things up as if he exists in a delusion. He still can't let go of his lies about 2020 or commit to accepting election results.
I'll take mumbles over mendacity.
That's interesting...you often claim to obtain information from a variety of sources, but yet the only unflattering things you've seen about Biden's debate performance is "lots of hand wringing in social media forums and digital platforms. The internet is alive with shorts which are unflattering for Biden."

What do you think he meant by "Roe vs Wade has three trimesters" ? Or, "we beat Medicare"?
What do you think our enemies, and allies, think of his stumbles, mumbles, unable to recall facts., and losing his train of thought?

Fair question. I think our enemies are still our enemies regardless of the debate. Russia for example who is no fan of Biden, branded him a total failure. Surprised?
But allies, not unexpectedly, like Americans are not impressed with Biden. Surprised?
I also think that some of our allies might be more concerned that a weak Biden debate would put Trump in the White House and that concerns them.
QuoteThe debate was watched around the world — by allies anxious about their future U.S. ties as well as autocratic governments seeking to rival the U.S.-led global order — and neither candidate appeared to impress.
QuoteA weak Joe Biden self-destructed in front of the whole world, while an aggressive Donald Trump told lies and mangled his sentences in a presidential debate that was like a reality show, according to international media.
The verdicts of pundits from around the globe to Thursday night's televised clash in Atlanta, Georgia, between the two White House rivals was damning.
From Beijing to New Delhi and beyond, the reviews were most scathing of President Biden's performance at the CNN forum, but his Republican challenger did not escape criticism.

I think that Biden struggled and didn't perform well. I think that Trump was his typical agitated and ranting and lying self. The world watched Biden mumble and lose his train of thought and they watched Trump tell lies and have trouble answering questions.
I think our enemies are thrilled that Biden didn't debate well and they are hopeful that their efforts to convince Americans to re-elect Trump are successful.

Yes, they're still our enemies.
Our enemies are seeing that in a high pressure crisis situation that the guy responsible for making big decisions is incapable of doing so.
I'm sure our allies are concerned too about Trump. Some are the same concerns you have. They also know Trump isn't going to vend over for them too.

Both Biden and Trump at this point have histories with our allies. Trump's "America First" certainly was popular here. I think is points about NATO and other people that depend on the American military meeting their targets for military spending is a good one.
I do understand that the debate being front and center talked about right now with some concerns from allies is out there. On the other hand Biden has had warm relations with our alliances and has caused no harm there.

And they will see those images again and again and again if their social media has them identified as liking or being drawn to that sort of thing. This is the reality of modern life. Similarly there are some very unflattering digital images and recordings and communications of Trump available for the public. Some of them implicated him in his recent felony convictions.

Do you mean a high pressure crisis situation like a pandemic? In that example, Trump completely failed the leadership test. Instead of making the big decisions, Trump left the states to fend for themselves and lied about the public health emergency.
Our allies know that Trump is likely to make excuses for and defend anything Putin tells him to. They were paying attention when Trump acted like Putin's puppy in Helsinki during his first term.
