I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL

ME thinks someone in Florida is upset over tightening legal inquiry... especially since Mark Meadows testified before Grand Jury, with second one now ongoing in Miami.
The Justice Department recently informed Donald Trump's legal team that he is a target in a federal investigation into the possible mishandling of classified documents, sources familiar with the matter told CNN, a sign that prosecutors may be moving closer to indicting the former president.
The sources have been informed of the target letter and its contents but had not seen it themselves.
Justice Department regulations allow for prosecutors to notify subjects of an investigation that they have become a target. Often a notification that a person is a target is a strong sign an indictment could follow, but it is possible the recipient is not ultimately charged.
VP Pence in CNN Town Hall tonight urges DOJ not to indict former president over classified documents....while at the same time says he will not pardon those involved in January 6th event, " gotta have equal treatment under the law" -- both sides of his mouth IMHO.

Trump sounds as unhinged as ever. He needs to convince people that he's a victim of unfounded charges just because he's Trump.
My long-held wish that Republicans would finally stand up against him and speak out is starting to come to light with people like Pence and Christie. But other candidates are still afraid of that base. They don't know how to take that base away from Trump. But a good deal of them believe Trump and seem just as deranged and unhinged as he does.
Well ... it's up to the feds to prove him guilty, not the other way around.

To me it's a dark day that a former President has been indicted of criminal behavior. Certainly we're not the only country that has had corruption and criminal charges brought to a leader or former leader, but I don't think these are good times. I don't pine for days gone by because they weren't good times for everyone but time was even an extra-marital affair would topple a candidate. Now this man.
It certainly is a good thing that the system of justice is in the works and alive and well but it's under attack like even the democratic voting system is.
Like TMB would say the "right wing propaganda" machine went into full gear.

People have long held mistrust in the government but to see it play out like this sends me to a dark place because I know that people believe Trump and that his approval numbers will rise.
It was a dark day when Trump was elected, and when he was inaugurated, and when he implemented the travel ban, and every time he broke the law and violated his oath of office. The world watched him crime for 4 years while the DOJ under Sessions and Barr let him get away with it.
