I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

...The 45,000 NFTs had sold out by Friday morning, according to the site. At $99 apiece, the proceeds come to $4.46 million. The cards are now being traded on OpenSea, an NFT marketplace, for prices starting at $1,200.The collectibles' creator, artist Clark Mitchell, will receive 10% of any subsequent sale.
It's not clear whether the former president will benefit financially from the sale. The cards are owned by a company called NFT INT LLC, whose mailing address traces to a UPS store in Park City, Utah...
...CollectTrumpCards.com notes that the NFTs aren't connected to Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.
"These Digital Trading Cards are not political and have nothing to do with any political campaign. NFT INT LLC is not owned, managed or controlled by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, CIC Digital LLC or any of their respective principals or affiliates," according to the site.

There's a sizeable group of Republican leaning Americans who are very susceptible to cons and grifts. It's the Trump era of conmen, grifters and charlatans.
Do we know who is purchasing these fanciful collectibles? Besides gullible Americans, are there foreign actors getting in the arena? It's suspect when someone like Trump jumps into the NFT game when the industry is in a deep 6 month decline.
Is he laundering money?
I think some people buying them may be looking into the appreciation value and look at is as an investment.
You would think a stunt like this would make him a laughing stock not to be taken seriously, but instead he rose a few million dollars. I've always said he has a personality disorder but he's not necessarily stupid.

I don't know that he's that smart either. I'll be surprised if all of that artwork is original. It looks like bad photo-shopping and it's easy to imagine that the bodies receiving Trump's head weren't created for this grift. Trump isn't known for paying close attention to detail or caring about laws that might limit his behavior.
QuoteDonald Trump took credit Wednesday for the elimination of Roe v. Wade, embracing his role in selecting the Supreme Court justices who were instrumental in ending the half-century precedent that protected abortion rights nationwide.
I love how he says Democrats are willing to kill babies even 9 months and beyond.
