The First Days of Nursing School by the Fall 2009ers!!!

Nursing Students General Students

Alright well I have been wanting to post this for a very long time! Since I first logged on to allnurses I couldn't wait until it was my turn to say, I am a nursing student!!!

So, technically, yesterday was my first day but I was only there for a couple hours. We went right into lecture about the history of nursing and how it's ever changing. We also learned about the different educational paths a nurse can take, but I already did that research beforehand on allnurses :p

Today was mainly orientation and a welcome to our nursing class. We went more in depth about what to expect and also dissected our huge textbook-like syllabus. I am not joking about the size of that syllabus, it's insane. Since starting I have been reading nonstop. We have already been assigned about five chapters to read from our fundamentals book, which is not the most interesting of reads, but it's doable. I'm just overwhelmed really, probably because they talked a lot about what is to come. Over the next month, three papers are due and at the end of each semester we are taking the ATI tests. If we fail those, well then we have to take the course over.

Today was also one of our lab days. So for lab, we watched two videos about ensuring infection control by washing hands and applying ppe and then of course we had to do it. The basics for right now. Tomorrow is another lab day, bedmaking and body mechanics. So I guess I should get back to reading a couple more chapters and stop playing around on allnurses. I am just so happy to have finally made it. I'm still in a state of shock. Somebody pinch me.

I wish I started in Oct. right about now. We have Orientation tomorrow then real classes start on Tuesday but now that my kids are all in school I wish I had a few more weeks to prepare.

I never thought that I'd be able to say this, but I am going to finally start nursing school! Orientation was last Friday, and my first Nursing class will be Tuesday at 1:30pm. Today I was so excited to start that I went out and got my BP cuff, scrubs, and stethoscope even though I won 't need it for another 2 weeks. :chuckle I chose to not buy the textbook bundle and instead bought the books individually online (all brand new editions) for a little more than half my school's price.

I went with my mom (a nurse) on an errand to her unit today and she was so proud to introduce me as her daughter, "The one that's in nursing school!" :heartbeat

I started NS on Aug.17 and I have been going every since. NS is what I expected and a WHOLE LOT more. I'm just so grateful to be in NS. This first week went by fast and was very overwhelming. I know that this is only the beginning so I've prepared myself.

For the ones who don't start until Oct. or Later I know how you feel. I was so ready for the summer to end I was just finding things to get into. Believe me it will be here before you know it.

Congrats to Everyone!!! Study Hard!!:nurse:

Ugh!! I start school tomorrow too! I am more nervous and scared than excited, but this is what I want and I am willing to study hard. Good luck everyone...

I also start tomorrow. I'm psyched, but nervous as HELL!

I just gotta dedicate and discipline myself. Why can't I do this? If I put the effort in, it HAS to pay off...

Oh lord keep me strong!

I start tomorrow and I've already got my books and notebooks together! I'm pretty excited, and super nervous. This is also my first post and I'm very happy to be here :)

I can't believe tomorrow is it. Oh man, I could use another week of preparation! But I guess then I could use another and another and you have to start sometime, somewhere! :bowingpur Please let it go okay.

Well..., tomorrow is the big day that I have been working towards for a long time, I started pre. reqs. almost 20 years ago, but life got in the way. I hope that I do my best, always respecting my instructors, my patients, my classmates, and those still working on pre. reqs. I look forward to the times and memories that our class will experience. Lifelong bonds will form with people I don't yet know, during the next two years. There will be hugs, tears, happiness, long sleepless nights and even longer days. I will once again see people on their first day of life, and others on their last. Five semesters to obtain a huge volume of knowledge. Many have done this before me, so it must be humanly possible. It will be a wonderful experience and I look forward to the pinning and NCLEX, and that one day when I start making money again. Good luck to the class of 2011!

I start tomorrow, too. I can't believe the day is FINALLY here! I'm both excited and nervous, but I think I am a little bit more nervous. Tomorrow is orientation, but I also have pharmacology tomorrow night. Good luck to everyone. Can't wait to see how everyone's day went tomorrow!

I'd just like to say good luck to everyone that is starting tomorrow (the 24th) I don't start till the 31st so I got a week on all of you, but I hope that your day goes well and smoothly too! Don't get too overwhelmed, take it one week at a time :] And remember, we ARE the future nurses! :]

:yeah:Congratulations to all the Fall 2009 nursing students!!!.......Its been a long journey but it is finally here!! My orientation is Aug. 27th and 28th and the first official day of class is Sept. 2. I had a fantastic summer with my family in Vegas, Myrtle Beach, and on a Caribbean Cruise; which was in part to celebrate my acceptance into my nursing program. So now its time for me to buckle down and get disciplined again with my studies. I am nervous, eager, and sooooooo ready for my wonderful journey into nursing. This has been my life long dream and I am so happy its getting ready to begin. A good friend of mine who is already a nurse told me "Some days you'll say to yourself, I must be crazy to do this":banghead:, but she assured me it is a great experience with a rewarding end:redbeathe. Think Positive everyone, we are going to all do well....:nurse:

Yayyyy...hope you got the Master Classic II stethoscope, its great!!!!
