I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.
Get out the popcorn for this one.
QuoteFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

It demonstrates the general theme of your posts. I which I usually do not reply.
Hyperbolic inflated nonsensical claims in which can never be proven about a person you have never met. Excuse me if I do not take your speculations seriously.
Thinking ones opinion and feeling is facts or evidence because one says so, is a symptom of narcissism.
No, you don't have to care.
You are practiced at hyperbole and inflated nonsensical right wing posts and now you are projecting that onto others, again. I mean, it's nonsense to minimize the events of January 6th, yet you do. Should I present more examples?
We know what is included with narcissism, it's you who seems to struggle identifying the very obvious symptoms of pathologic narcissism in a public figure that you like. It's amusing that the member who can't identify the obvious symptoms of narcissism is narcissistic enough to try to explain the symptoms to the people pointing them out to her.
Do you expect us to take you seriously? I mean you recently tried to argue that Trump's claims about abortion after birth were founded in facts and reality.
LOL

Agree. I know we live in a time now where institutions are suspect, but it's a bit too conspiracy theorist for me to think that way. I have to have some bit of faith in the criminal justice system as flawed as it it. To think that it's just a witch hunt of made up charges and that a jury would lie their way into the courtroom to convict him is a bit much.
What really is happening is that people are already deciding before the trial has started that it's corrupt. Given that people think the election is rigged and even before the vote occurred decided it was going to be rigged if he lost, this shouldn't be surprising.
I can agree that people probably aren't entirely honest when questions are asked. I agree that some might not be truthful to get out of jury duty and say something like "I'm biased" or something to get into a jury like "I've never heard of any of this".

Trump has a cult and that cult will believe whatever he says. Some of the shared delusion will drop away if Trump is ever incarcerated and loses his ability to share his lies and nonsense with the cult.
NRSKarenRN said:Its the ATTORNEYS who decide which jury members to strike ( per allotted # varies per state) and Judge who approves seating of jury members. So far 4 different grand juries in different states have found evidence compelling enough to have a trial... yet you think they have potential for lying with 2 juries finding Trump guilty? Well thats how our justice system works.
LOL....grand juries....no judge and no defense.
"You can indict a ham sandwich."

Is your point that the grand jury jurors were corrupt liars who intended to indict Trump regardless of the evidence? Is the point that we just shouldn't trust any court decision unless Trump says it's a good one?

Spinning and twisting and invoking Hitler doesn't transform a lie into an honorable statement. That sounds like a attempt at justification of lies to me and that seems to be required of Trump supporters.
First you used Hitler to justify assassination and now you're using Hitler to justify lying under oath. That's weird.
So what was his point if not to suggest that the jurors and judges and attorneys were lying and scheming to take Trump down? What did you understand his point to be?
Probably because if I was saying that I would say .
""jurors, judges and attorneys " were lying and scheming,".
And so would Beerman.
It's obvious. You are trying devalue an opinion by willfully using hyperbole. To make the point sound conspiratory.
"Use Hitler to justify assassination "? Are you refering to when you said you would not have supported the assination of Hitler" Who facillitated the murder of 6 million jews and millions of other people? Interesting. I think the Nazis and Hitler would have agreed with you.
Did you support the assination of Bin Laden? By Obama?
Point is, your hyperbolic spin meant to devalue an opinion by misinterpreting words and sensationalizing them isn't going to work here.
"Swift Justice" -- surely if one is innocent, you would want to get a trial over promptly to be found not guilty and get on with ones life instead of numerous delays, delays, change of lawyers, "I had terrible laywer's -- who YOU chose, racking up millions in legal fees-- which your political campaign is paying fees.

It was a discussion on the integrity of jurors. Another member asked if I thought so little of my fellow Americans that they would lie to be on a jury.
I said not everyone thinks lies are lies and many think lies are justified if it meant stopping Trump. As the media and democrats have been saying he's is the next Hitler along with other things for 8 years. Some on the dem side have a cult like believe that if Trump wins it will be the second coming of Nazi Germany
You said before that you would not support the assination of Hitler even if that would save millions of lives.
I think you are a minority with that opinion. And that you openly admitted you would not have supported an assination of Hiler, is it so far out there that a potential juror would use deception in order to stop Trump who the msm and dems, including the POTUS has claimed is just like Hitler for the last 8 years?
No one said anything about a conspiracy against Trump. You did.
heron said:Not "overblown" in my view. It bears a distinct resemblance to the Qanon fable about dems killing babies for their adrenochrome. It's a deliberate falsehood directly descended from mideval blood libel against Jews. Pure political theater centered on pejorative labelling.
Kinda like the standard Know-nothing fare of migrant = dirty, criminal, diseased and taking over murrica.
I have yet to find someone who can descibe the techniques used to do an an abortion on a 9 month old fetus or one who is already born. Not.a.single.person.
Beerman said:Millions have been let in and allowed to stay. Seems like an accurate statement to me.
Fair enough and I'm not going to take a deeper dive into how many millions have been allowed to stay and just take your word on it. Obviously there have been millions of encounters at the border and legal immigration is in the millions as well. But the idea that the border is open with millions of people just allowed in is tired rhetoric when Biden was very active with deportations and has taken hundreds of executive actions, that I'm finished with it. But yes, everything regarding the border is at all time highs so I can't blame the rhetoric. (Yes Crusades, Dems do it too.)

I would be too biased to serve on a jury to judge Trump and I would be honest about it. I wouldn't have to lie.
We've already talked about what he said about the constitution. I also get that people are very concerned, to the point of hitting the streets about abortion (and yes stopping at six weeks someone that wants to end their pregnancy is forced pregnancy), and I've read articles comparing him and his agenda and followers to Nazi Germany.
I live in a decidedly Republican state and I'm still getting used to your way of posting but isn't "spun into a hysteria" a bit much? I do know the "our Democracy is a stake" is a bit much of a campaign but is it spinning people into a hysteria in Democrat states. I'm in decidedly Republican Florida but live in a hugely Democrat area and I don't see that.
I'm trying to do a deeper dive and am not finding any hysteria or any information on the idea of him putting women in forced pregnancy camps, so if you don't mind elaborating.
