I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.
Get out the popcorn for this one.
QuoteFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.
Beerman said:Yep. Some said the same about him the last go around. Then, I guess his mental illness went away for awhile. Then, all of sudden overnight Biden became cognitively unfit to run again (but somehow still fit to serve the rest his term). Now, Trump's mental illness is back.
You forgot not only does Trump have mental illness, he has frontal lobe dementia and PTSD by getting his ear cut from glass.

Do I think citizens woukd lie? No not usually. However in many democratic states, citizens have been spun into a hysteria after hearing that Trump will end the constitution, put women in forced pregnancy camps, will be the next Hitler and turn the US into a Nazi Germany 2.0. and that the racist south will rise again, For 8 years!!
Is lying as sinister if were to stop "Hitler" or to save women from "forced pregnancy"? Or to prevent slavery again? Woukd you?
I'd bet that the majority of people who believe this would not consider bringing their willful bias to a court room as an act of deception. Probably more of a patriotic duty to save us all.
I have no idea why you are bringing in Hitler when in comes to jury selection. The Manhattan trial was held there because that is where the majority of the crimes were committed. The defense requested a change of venue, and was denied. That was appealed, and also denied. That is how the courts work. Trump was treated the same way any defendant is. That's how justice works.
The jury selection took several days. 500 people were screened, 96 were invited, and half were rejected because they said they could not be impartial. But you think 12 Trump haters were able to get seated and reach a guilty verdict. If that is something you would bet on, I'd stay away from games of chance if I were you.

If I were ypu I would read the entire quote of the person I replied to.
She asked if I thought a jury would willfully lie.
Would a lie be a lie if it meant stopping Hitler ? Or preventing "forced pregnancy " and preventing slavery?
All have been said Trump would do if elected again.
If potential jurors believe these things then lying to be on a jury to stop "Hitler" isn't so impossible to imagine.
toomuchbaloney said:Is this a suggestion then that all of the grand jurors and trial jurors involved in Trump's legal problems in multiple states simply lied and deceived the attorneys and the judges in order to participate in a scheme to wrongfully convict Trump of crimes that he didn't commit?
I can't speak for Beerman but I'm ptetty sure that's not what he suggested.
He was refering to jury selection, not all the "states, attorneys, judges"
Nice hyperbole and spin

Yes. The evidence suggests that Trump has dangerous mental illness and is suffering cognitive decline associated with a dementia. Frontotemopral dementia seems to fit his constellation of symptoms and would fit with the known neuropathology of those with NPD. Yes, it would be expected that Trump would experience some PTSD after experiencing a near death incident when a crazy guy with a gun tried to shoot him in the head. Yes, Trump demonstrated the symptoms of that trauma in the days after that attempt. Should we review and discuss the symptoms?
Are you trying to pretend that Trump doesn't exhibit the symptoms of these things? Doesn't dementia certification qualify one to identify the signs and symptoms of cognitive decline related to dementia? I think it does.
My guess is that you're comment isn't an attempt at thoughtful discussion but is rather an attempt at sarcasm. Unfortunately, it looks and reads much likethe majority of your thoughtful and routine attempts to defend Trump's indefensible language and behavior.

I am the person you replied to.
Yes, I think finding 12 people, 16 if you count the alternates, willing to lie their way onto a jury about election interference in order to prevent slavery is impossible to imagine.

Lies are lies.
Spinning and twisting and invoking Hitler doesn't transform a lie into an honorable statement. That sounds like a attempt at justification of lies to me and that seems to be required of Trump supporters.
First you used Hitler to justify assassination and now you're using Hitler to justify lying under oath. That's weird.

So what was his point if not to suggest that the jurors and judges and attorneys were lying and scheming to take Trump down? What did you understand his point to be?
Its the ATTORNEYS who decide which jury members to strike ( per allotted # varies per state) and Judge who approves seating of jury members. So far 4 different grand juries in different states have found evidence compelling enough to have a trial... yet you think they have potential for lying with 2 juries finding Trump guilty?? Well thats how our justice system works.

Maybe they should use educators and not journalists to moderate debates. I think sometimes the journalists like the drama so they'll have something to talk about later.
She did hit the high points, inflation and the border although "he opened it wide open allowing millions of people to cross the border" is a bit much. She looks good though. Apparently she lost weight and got her health in order after having diabetes.
