I've been on AN for a while, I signed up before I got in to nursing school. I read several times a week, but I'm more of a lurker, I rarely post.
I lurk on the School Nurse forum all the time, although I am not a school nurse. I come from a family a teachers-- Mom, Dad (now admin), Sister, Grandmother, Aunt, Uncle and some cousins; all teachers. I think that's part of the reason I find your threads so entertaining, it makes me giggle knowing how pesky teachers can be. And overall, you guys are just fun and I love reading your threads.
But you know what I love best about your forum? How tight knit and supportive you are of each other (*Disclaimer: this is not to say other people on other boards AREN'T, I just think this is a smaller group, thus allowing a tighter knit). You guys are always so supportive of each other. I was just reading a random thread and Farawan (pretty sure that's spelled wrong 😳) started her response with "You can come to us with ANYTHING, okay?" That made my heart smile ðŸ˜.
So pretty much, you guys are the cool kids and I wanted to give you a shout out. You're also a bunch of smart alecks, so what's not to love? 😉

twss- Thanks for this. I honestly don't know how I had survived until I found my new co-workers. 20 years as a school nurse, NEVER had what I could call a nurse that is a co-worker. Not even another nurse in another building in the district.
This thread comes at a really good time of the school year. I am guessing it is safe to say that it is this way in many schools. This time of year seems to filled with teachers, staff, kids collectively being very tired of school. We have been here for months. Winter is nearing an end, but not yet. Spring fever is going to get more intense, the general crabbiness and short amounts of patience is rampant.
For myself, I can't wait to see the first robin hopping around in the yard, this tells me that spring is on its way. Now, when I see buzzards eating road kill, then...BINGO!! that makes it official. Spring is heeeeere!! YESSSSS!!!
I LOVE hanging out with my fellow school nurses. Gives me a good laugh every day. And its awesome to see the close-knit relationships of "strangers". If only I knew names...then I could facebook stalk.
