The Bad Day Thread

Published

Aw. So, I'm already having a bad day.

One of my students, the one that tells people I'm her mom because she really doesn't have anyone else to call mom, just came to say goodbye.

Moving in with her real mom, who is trying like hell to make things right with her daughter.

She'd better.

I corrected the kid when she called me mom, btw. She was just in my office every.single.day. and I care about her.

Happy the kid is hopefully getting a fresh start. Sad for me.

i'm so sorry to hear this. big hugs. for all the griping and moaning i can do about the most aggravating part of this job - when it all boils down - THIS - right here is what really drives me mad. I am hoping that her situation improves. I am glad that she knows that she has you as a safe person to go to and I hope she remembers that before her environment gets too toxic.

I think it's too late for that.

I think it's too late for that.

Well let's pray it's not too late. I just did. I don't know her but God knows who I was talking to Him about; asking for His intervention into her life. I invite you guys to do the same. Prayerfully, it's not too late.

Thank you, guys. So glad I have you all. [emoji7]

I'm so sorry, Far (hugs)

Remember this?

One of the students who kept in touch with her came in with his phone and we Face Timed with her.

She is not doing well. She's doing drugs, drinking and getting beat up. By men.

She still calls me Mom, and told me she loves me and missed me. I told her the same.

Uuuugh, guys.

Oh Far, that sucks!

Any chance for a protective services call?

It is so hard when they REALLY get under our skin and into our hearts.

Big hugs and love to you!

She's in another county. The City now. We called her school. And her mom.

I don't feel bad for being heartfelt with her either, because she should know someone loves her. Boundaries be damned. She's not my student anymore.

So sorry Far. That really does just suck. But like you said, if nothing else, she does know someone really cared about her.

On another bad day note, I had a teacher refer a 2nd grade student to me last week for an eye exam because it looked like he was developing a lazy/cross eye. I was going to do it yesterday, but Mom decided to take him in for an eye exam over the weekend. He was sent from there straight to MRI and was found to have a brain tumor very close to his brain stem and also spots on his spine. He is in surgery today for the tumor. So worried about him!
