The Bad Day Thread

Published

Aw. So, I'm already having a bad day.

One of my students, the one that tells people I'm her mom because she really doesn't have anyone else to call mom, just came to say goodbye.

Moving in with her real mom, who is trying like hell to make things right with her daughter.

She'd better.

I corrected the kid when she called me mom, btw. She was just in my office every.single.day. and I care about her.

Happy the kid is hopefully getting a fresh start. Sad for me.

Goodness. Hugs to you and your community, Farawyn.

Thanks. It's been rough. The wave of death needs to retreat a bit.

Good grief, what a rough week you've had! I missed you telling about your mom friend that passed last week and now a dad. So much for one school to handle.

Your school family is in my heart! Hugs, Far!!

Bad time for a city down the road: Of their 15 snow removal trucks, "five of 'em are broke down" (according to their road maintenance supervisor). So today, now that it has rained all night and is above freezing, and much of the snow is melted away..they are FINALLY going to plow the already-naturally-cleared roads this morning. The city's residents have not taken well to their roads being totally ignored since the beginning of the storm.

Heading down now.

the Big Kid says they didn't salt or ice, then plowed and packed it down.

They only got a few inches but he says NC did not do well with snow removal.

I'm an hour from Winston Salem NC and my daughter lives there now (still in college) and she agrees with your Big Kid's assessment! Thankfully she could walk to her internship and her part time job was closed. Classes start back for her next week.

I believe that sand must be prohibitively expensive, or something. It is only ever used on the very main-est-of-the-main throroughfares, at my end of the state.

One of the first years I lived here, the snowy roads were salted, immediately following the plows. Just salt. Period.

The next morning, a Zamboni would have been a more appropriate vehicle to drive. DUH!!!!
