Heard on broadcast news + CNN:
6/23/20 -Texas Reports All-Time Daily High: 5,489 New COVID-19 Cases. Houston hospital ICU's full.. Texas Chrildrens hospital will now admit adults. Change in tone from Governor Abbott --who's high risk for catching virus himself
QuoteAs Texas sees its highest numbers of positive tests and hospitalizations, Gov. Greg Abbott advised residents of the state to stay at home.

Quote"The hospitalization rate is at an all-time high," he said. "The coronavirus is serious. It's spreading in Brazos County, across the entire state of Texas."
Hope my Texas colleagues have enough PPE!
All Texas bars closed as of noon today, restaurants back down to 50%
THIS is what happens when people don't wear masks. This is more impeding on your "personal freedom" than wearing a mask is.
I also read an article somewhere (will have to search for it later when I have time) that said from what they are seeing early on based on contact tracing, they're finding that many community spread occurred from the parties that are happening among family/friends where majority of people were NOT wearing masks, versus protests where there are larger groups but the majority of people are wearing masks. I found that interesting.

I really wanted Beto against Cruz. I'm pretty liberal-leaning on some issues, while conservative on others. But yeah, this COVID thing has been a real eye-opener. The Democrats truly have been behaving like the party of permanent quarantine!

To be fair, I think Abbott has caved in to the Corona-obsessed and given them a morsel of what they want. And it's wrong. He should have held firm and not closed down any business. Those that are so scared of it could emigrate to New York where Cuomo will have all the mandates to quarantine and fines that their hearts so ardently desire.
I wish Texans would have taken heed of what the East Coast went through months ago. Our ICU's got so full we were making makeshift beds in hallways and tents outside. It's not a political issue it is a PUBLIC HEALTH issue. My prayers are with the nurses in Texas and Florida who have to deal with, amid critical PPE shortages as well. It's horrible.

You can not be serious?! Do you believe in science at all?
Unlike the Northeast we simply can't afford to quarantine and have mass shutdowns here in Texas again. We have massive state budget deficits from a collapse in state sales and business taxes already. Our revenues took a hit because of the collapse in oil/natgas prices. Major city budgets, including here in Houston, are in the red. Plus, hurricane season is a little more than a month away, and that saps away billions of dollars in damages and can lead to great misery here (see: Hurricane Harvey). Did I also mention the worst dust bowl from the Saharan Desert in 50 years is supposed to hit Texas and Louisiana pretty soon?
We simply cannot cater to this Coronavirus or its vulnerable people any more. Things absolutely have to be reopened in full. To shut the whole economy off and on, time and time again, every time there's an outbreak, is simply not tenable. It's time to let things happen the way nature intended and go for full-blown herd immunity. If you are susceptible go quarantine yourself but don't expect us to take care of you forever. We Texans are deeply individualistic in a country already known for her love of personal freedoms. This is being firm and assertive here: Enough is enough with the Coronavirus! If the hospital beds go full then the answer is, "I am sorry but there is nothing we can do for you. Go home."

Yes, Mr Trump, that's what you said at murder show #1 in Tulsa. We heard you then, and still we know it's faulty reasoning and wrong, and you don't know what you're talking about in general.
