Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

To anotherhopeful1: Check with Campus Bookstore about the Kozier Book for foundation. I bought the package that have Kozier Foundation book and my nursing lab for $150 for Spring 2011. Check with your pal that how much it cost for the whole package. For mine, the package and the book came together. If you dont have the My Nursing Lab code pack together with the book, check with the bookstore.

Just some information they will tell you at the orientation, all the code you purchase for the course like My Nursing Lab, the Elkins for Skill. After buying these codes, put it in your folder, and never try to register before the class start. At the second week of clinical, the nursing data base coordinator will you guys how to register for it.

I have a friend, she registered before and she got a lot of trouble because doing it ahead, fyi....

Do you remember which book option you picked? I'm just wondering if there was a package or something that I was supposed to get that came with My Nursing Lab. I didn't see one...so is that My Nursing Lab access code something we have to purchase separately?

To clarify, I did receive the My Nursing Lab pamphlet, just not the CD-ROM (you register the My Nursing Lab online using the code found inside the little folder, and the little folder was inside the top flap of the book). You should've definitely received the My Nursing Lab pamphlet with your book as well... it sounds like we ordered the same one.

The SKU for the book I purchased is 01380246180138024618 (found on my digital receipt that was emailed to me), and when you search that SKU on majorsbooks.com, it pulls up Kozier & Erb's Fundamentals of Nursing: Concepts, Process and Practice, ISBN: 9780138024611 for $115.95. In the brief detail of the book, it does state:

Published by Prentice Hall, Copyright 2012

Authors: A Berman, S Snyder

Hardcover, 9th Edition with internet access

However, down below in the detailed description of the book, I do see this: A DVD-ROM comes packaged with every textbook. It provides an interactive st study program that allows students to practice answering NCLEX® style questions with rationales for right and wrong answers, it also contains an audio glossary, animations, videos, skill checklists, and a link lo the Companion Website. New to this edition is a dosage calculation module and a software tool for building your own concept maps along with end-of-unit activities for creating concept maps that relate to unit topics.

So, it does appear that there was supposed to be some sort of CD-ROM/DVD-ROM included with the book. I tried calling the store, but unfortunately they closed at 6pm... I was about 10 minutes too late. I'll try calling tomorrow and let you know what they say.

My fundamentals book, did not come w/ cd rom or access code. I bought access to the mynursinglab directly from pearson. It was $44 for two years access.

There is a large area outside the auditorium where we could meet before orientation. Registration starts at 8:00. I plan on getting there at 7:45. I will find a way to identify myself.

Thanks Dreamer! Yeah, our SKUs match, so I guess I have to call them to get the Nursing Lab stuff sent to me.

I just got off the phone with them, and the lady I spoke to said the information regarding the DVD-ROM was posted on the website in error. She said it was actually an older edition of the book that came with it, not the newer edition. They will be removing that portion of the book description asap. However, it was definitely supposed to come with the My Nursing Lab, so I would call them and let them know you didn't receive it.

Sounds good to me. I will probably be there between 7:45am and 8am as well.

I think I'll be getting there at 730....

Hey Dreamer, I just also received my books from majors and it looks like I did not get they my nursing lab for the fundamentals book either. I have the Complete RN Collection and Nursing Interventions & Clinical Skills access codes but no my nursing lab. Was yours stuck to one of the inside covers of the book? I'm going to call them today too.

I do remember that the books along with the e-book access codes making up the TCC package were all wrapped together in cellophane, the Fundamentals book was wrapped in cellophane separately, and then my drug book and medical dictionary were in the box as well... I just don't remember if the My Nursing Lab was on top of the Fundamentals book or inside of it. Either way, the book itself along with the My Nursing Lab was inside the cellophane together.

I'm sorry you guys are having this issue with the book. Hopefully you can call and let them know you didn't receive the online component and they will get it sent out right away. I'm going to go home tonight and go book by book on our required textbook sheet as well as my receipt and make sure I've got everything I need.

The skills CID is on the cartella site. 140 pages-YIKES!

LOL! That's why I just bought it from the bookstore instead of trying to print it out myself. I'm hoping they utilized double-side printing to save space in my binder... I haven't been by to pick mine up yet.

I called up to the SO bookstore today to ask if my name tags have came in yet and the girl mentioned that there has been issues and she is going to call and find out what is going on. She took down my name and phone number and told me so would return my call but she never did. I'm so jealous of yall who already have this marked off your list and have them in your hands! I ordered mine June 14th so today makes this a month and 6 days. So frustrating!
