Hello,
I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.
I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.
I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

I believe they do the 3.0/4.0 TEAS test. I just bought a study guide for the TEAS at the south campus and that was the only version of the study guide that they had.
I will also be applying to the Fall entry and I am taking Micro and Math0350 this coming semester. I've been taking a lot of classes at the TRC, but I will be taking micro and Math0350 at the NW campus.
Hello, I'm happy someone replied. I have found tons of useful and helpful information on this website but a lot of students aren't aware that it even exists. Thank you for the info. Well, I guess I should start studying with the 3.0/4.0 teas test version. I'm so excited, I feel like this has taken forever and finally to be this close to applying in the fall is amazing. I'm taking micro at NW as well and I have taken all of my pre reqs with the exception of Chemistry at NW. I took chemistry at TRC in the spring. The math class I'm taking is also 0350, I will continue to take college algebra in the spring for my future BSN degree. I'm really hoping to apply to TCC and WC in the spring. Are you taking evening classes? Anyone else out there that is applying for fall entrance?
Did youalso hear that starting in the fall 2011 they are moving the program to downtown? If you do a degree audit and enter catalog year 2011, it will state there.
I am also taking classes to work toward my BSN. My plan is to get through an ADN program and then do an online ADN-BSN program. I will be taking Math0350 and Micro in the evening at NW, and a Philosophy or Sociology class (I can't remember what I registered for) on Tues/Thurs mornings at the TRC.
I went in to speak with a councelor at TRC and she told me that the program would be a TRC. I will also be applying to WC next semester. I applied this semester to WC but I really don't think I will get in because I haven't taken Micro yet.
I too contemplated applying to WC for the spring start but I decided to back down and wait for the spring. 1-I didn't have Micro completed 2-I didn't think an evening program would be a good idea since I have two little ones and my husband is the only support system in my household. I think you have a good chance of getting in without Micro. The secretary at WC assured me that there has been students in the past that got in without a science. Who are you taking for Micro. You might want to PM since I don't think you can post it here.
One last question, What did you think about the Teas test? Was it hard, easy, easy if you study, did you get plenty of time to work out all the math?
Keep in touch!
I bought the study guide. I did not run out of time on the math section. If you get the book and work through it, you will do fine. The science was the most difficult part. I would suggest studying the science and memorizing everything in it. I really felt like the TEAS study guide and the test were very similar. I would allow plenty of time to study so you can make sure to get it all. I will PM you about the micro.

Hi all! I am applying for Fall 2011 as well...both TCC and WC, with TCC being my preference....I am trying to get everything done before Jan, UGH...so much to do. :) Has anyone had a meeting with the nursing advisors? I sent in for my transcript audit today so I can schedule my appointment, just to make sure I am on track. I have been stalking these board for months and am so glad there is a Fall '11 board now!
Oh and for those trying both WC and TCC...how dis you get more info on the WC program? I looked on the site and it says it's under construction...the catalogue has some good info, but I was hoping they would have tons of info like the FAQ's on TCC's page.

Hey, I waited to see if anyone would make a thread for fall 11 applicants and just got too antsy and made one myself considering I had a few questions. I haven't had a meeting with any nursing advisor, do you think I should make an appointment? I think I have everything on track the only thing I won't be completing before application are the bonus classes and hopefully that isn't enough to hold me back. I have good grades in all my other ones and will sign up for medical terminology and pharmacology next term but they won't see that during my application.
For WC, I would call and ask to speak to KL, I can't really post the name here, I don't want to get busted. She will send you an email with all the documents attatched with all the info needed to apply. Unfortunately, their website is not as informative as tcc's. I have a classmate from my past API class that got accepted for the fall 10 and she said that they are great to work with as well and they have 100% nclex pass rate.
I have another question, when should I start doing my vaccinations. Would it hurt to just get them completed now? If TCC says that we are only required to have the vaccines before we start the program but after being accepted, why do we have to submit that vaccine form with the application. I can get it started now if they are going to give me extra points for it.
I am not sure if they give extra consideration for vaccines, but I am getting mine all done..including some titers, next month. I called Care Now and they told me they do TB testing and vaccines there, so that is where I am probably going to go. I know for sure they want you to start on the HEP B vaccine, as it takes 6 months to complete. I have a physical scheduled for next month, so I might just wait for that because my doc has a lab onsite. I figure if they see you are getting everything done in a timely manner it can do nothing but help your app. I am going to call WC today and see if I can get the packet you mentioned...that would be helpful.
Another bonus class that is kind of low on the radar is HECO1322 diet and nut. therapy...EASY A! I took an ITV class summer II and it was very similar to the basic AP I concepts...very general stuff.
Does anyone have anyone have any experience with the mini mesters? I will have to take my math comp. in the wintermester...but I need to take it at night... Does TCC offer night classes in the mini mester? I have only gone in the regular semesters and the summer, so no experience with the minis :).
I thought about the nutrition but I don't want to take too much in the fall and jeopardize my chances for an A in micro. I'm this close to applying with a 4.0 in my sciences. I wouldn't mind taking it in a mini but I think they only do minimesters for basics like english and math. I might be wrong though. What math are you trying to complete? I attended college back in 03 and I had done two pre developmental classes for math (didn't really study for the placement) and was ready for college algebra but those expire after three years so I didn't want to place in those waste of time classes again. I studied for the accuplacer with an algebra book and placed in that 0350 class. It worked for me, I need some brushing up before I take college algebra in the spring.
What are you taking this semester? , sorry about all the happy faces, my girls made me do it. Oh, I was just kidding about getting points for the vaccines.
I am taking Micro Chem and speech...micro and chem both online w/ campus lab, so hopefully they wont kick my butt! I placed to take math 0350, so I thought I would go for it in the mini mester...but I really need a night class. I wish the mini mester schedule was already out! So how long did it take you to get an email from the WC lady? I called this morning and she said she would email me, but I havent got anything yet...impatient I know, lol. I just have so many questions and with applying to both schools I want to make sure I get everything done.
One last question for WC applicants...does the Chem at TCC class cover the math prereq at WC? Hopefully, because I guess I won't have it otherwise.
To get the info for WC, you would have to call or email KL. She will send you all of the info in an email.
I have 2 of my Hep B series done. I went to the Public Health department in my county and it is only $20 per shot. I have med insurance but I have heard that it would still be expensive and most doctor's offices don't have the vaccines on site. I am thinking I will go ahead and get the rest in Sept when I get my final Hep B.
I do not have any of the bonus classes done. I was considering doing nutrition as well, but all of the online classes are full. I am wondering if TCC will accept more students since they are moving to a new facility. Maybe they will be able to accept more next semester. I would love to get in to TCC, but would also be very happy to get in at WC!
