Summer 2012 - Check in

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

OK, since enrollment for Summer 2012 is close to starting, I figured I'd get the ball rolling for those of us who are taking courses this summer.

What courses are you taking? Is this your first time taking the class? When will you apply for nursing school?

Good luck to you all and let's keep each other updated on our summer classes in this thread :D

I'm taking microbiology. It is my last pre-requisite actually!! I start school in the fall!

Student success, English II, Psychology, and History I.

I just started college in spring, so I will not be applying to nursing school for quiet some time, as I am getting my BSN.

I'm taking just one class this summer, math. I'll still have a few more pre-reqs after that and hope to apply to nursing school in the spring.

Taking just 1 class this summer, Communications. I just started college this spring so i still have a long way to go:)

I'm taking 3 classes in total this summer:

English 102 14weeks 1210-305pm

A&P 2 7weeks 8am-2pm twice a week Summer 1

Math 017 7weeks 630pm-930pm twice a week Summer 2

Oh and I think now I'll be applying to start Fall 2014 now...

i'm taking psychology 101 again (online), as well as women's issues (online). i qualified for a loan and accepted it yesterday. i won't get the refund from it until sometime in july. i've tried researching my instructors beforehand and hope that i have good success with them.

eta: the college financial aid office has the loan application listed as being for this spring instead of this summer; they didn't take out my tuition payment. i called the bloomington financial aid ofc last week and was told this and will instead be receiving my funds sometime this week. once it arrives, i'm immediately paying my tiution, buying my book (may find it cheaper online; if so, i'll do that), and using it for some other priority matters. i'm having surgery on 5/25 and hope that i feel up to dealing with an online class since the timing of these 2 things is so close...

i also wanted to add that my advisor doesn't recommend me taking english composition online. it was getting kind of difficult looking for a class to take with the psych class, but i think taking women's issues will be beneficial.

eta: i found this book on amazon for $30 listed as being in "good condition." i just emailed the seller w/additional questions about the quality of the book. it beats paying over $100 for it. these bookstore prices are ridiculous!

I was put on a waitlist for the nursing program (for the 5th time) and just got offered a spot for summer! Starting Nursing 100 a week from today...it's a 7 week course. Nervous, but READY!!! I can do this :)

Congrats on getting in to Nursing School!!! Patience pays off :D

Best of luck to you! :yeah:

I just added ethics to my summer schedule although I'm not sure if I'm keeping it. I will be traveling the first week of (online) classes. Generally not a big deal because I'll be taking a laptop with me and will have plenty of lag time in the evenings and mornings. One of my backup schools requires ethics and I figure might as well get it done sooner than later.

Going to the nursing building on Monday to purchase my lab coat & phlebotomy kit for my Phlebotomy class. Can't wait to get started on this course...it looks like it's going to be all hands-on. I have a feeling my arms are going to be black & blue for the next 8 weeks, since we have to practice on each other beofre we're allowed to do clinicals next semester!

4 weeks until school starts!!!
