OK, since enrollment for Summer 2012 is close to starting, I figured I'd get the ball rolling for those of us who are taking courses this summer.
What courses are you taking? Is this your first time taking the class? When will you apply for nursing school?
Good luck to you all and let's keep each other updated on our summer classes in this thread
I might take abnormal psychology this summer. I think its a 4 week course but it will cost $1000+
out-of-pocket so I'm not sure if I really want to take it.
If I take in the fall I have to take with my obstetrics nursing class, pathophysiology, and nursing research class
and on top of that 6-hour 2 days/wk clinicals and a part-time job.
I don't know...I just don't know
Went to the school yesterday to pay my tuition and get my Student ID card. Now I feel like I'm a *real* student...LOL :)
I'm glad I went yesterday. It was Club Day at the school and I passed the Phi Theta Kappa table. They are the Honor Society for 2 year colleges. I used to be a member way back in late 80s/early 90s. I found out that if I do any work with the club, it can be used as volunteer hours on my nursing program application...yeah!!! I'm definitely going to get back into PTK. I really enjoyed it when I was young. It would be nice to have a different perspective on it now that I'm in my 40s :)
I also took my course schedule and walked around campus to find all my classrooms, so I'm not wandering around on my first day, wondering where to go. I went by the Anatomy lab...ahhh, the smell of formaldehyde...brings back memories! There were students in there dissecting sheep brains.
I love the building where my Phlebotomy class is going to be held. It's also where all the nursing classes are held. It looks like a hospital when you go upstairs. Very new building and all state-of-the-art equipment. I think I'm really going to enjoy this!
Now I just have to play the waiting game until school starts....tick, tick, tick....
I recently applied to St Petersburg College Nursing school. Can anyone tell me the difference between the day and night classes? Any tips would be really helpful! Thanks a bunch...
While I can't comment on that particular school...I can comment on the differences between day & night classes. In my experience, night classes generally have more adults in them, rather than young college kids. Usually, working folks who are trying to earn a degree part-time and fit the courses into their work schedule.
I usually preferred the night courses to the day courses, simply because the maturity level of the class seemed so much higher. Now, that's just my own experience, so yours may be different, depending on the school.

Just bought my books. Holy cow! They cost almost as much as tuition!!! $511 for 4 books...ouch!
Anatomy book was the killer - $215 for the text & lab manual. I got the paperback version, otherwise, it would've been $350
Phlebotomy was only $67 and came with 2 books in the pack. I think I'm REALLY going to like this course. It's all hands-on activities, lecture is only 40 minutes with 2+ hours of lab.
Don't have a feel for PSYC or Healthy Lifestyles yet. Looks like they should be interesting, but professors haven't posted the syllabus for those classes yet.
I'm getting a jump start on Anatomy since the professor already posted the syllabus...yes
