Summer 2012 - Check in

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

OK, since enrollment for Summer 2012 is close to starting, I figured I'd get the ball rolling for those of us who are taking courses this summer.

What courses are you taking? Is this your first time taking the class? When will you apply for nursing school?

Good luck to you all and let's keep each other updated on our summer classes in this thread :D

Specializes in Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.

I'll be taking A&P I, its lab, and Intro to Chemistry. It's my first time taking A&P but I think I have a head start because of the Basic Body course I'm currently taking at the LPN program I will be leaving after this semester. I've taken a higher level Chemistry before. My advisor said I could use that to apply, but because I made a D then an A, she suggested I just take the Intro. Any courses not in the curriculum aren't considered, and besides that D in the upper level chemistry I have a very competitive application. I'll be applying this December and hopefully starting next fall.

Specializes in Psych/Mental Health.

I'll be taking A&P 1 and either Growth & Development in a 5-week summer session (second half); micro/AP2/nutrituion (+possibly chem 2) in the fall. I took psych last Fall and am taking bio & chem this semester. Right after my classes this semester end I'll start applying to programs. Best of luck to everybody!

Specializes in LTC and School Health.

I'm going to try and take Nutrition this summer. I love summer classes.

I'll be taking: A&P 1 and its lab, College Algebra,Eng Comp 2,and Public Speaking. I'll be taking Eng Comp and Algebra online.

I'm going to just focus on Micro this summer. I absolutely love all things science, but I have heard this is a harder course. Being that I am insane , I wanna keep my 4.0 science GPA and this seems the smartest way to go, plus I've already done all of my other prereqs and coreqs (finishing the last half of A&P II now).

Good luck everyone!!

I will be taking Chemistry this summer, Mon-Thurs from 930-1030, and then labs 2 days a week from 130-430. I will be applying to NS by next Feb, for Fall 2013...The only pre-req I will have left is Micro, but I need to re-take my anatomy's because it has been over 5 years and I certainly need a refresher. I had planned on taking 2 sciences this summer, and 2 the next semester...but, all of the classes were offered on the same days at the same time! UGH! So I am only going to be able to take 1. Good thing is that will give me more time with it to make an "A'', hopefully:) I feel like this is going to be the longest year of my life waiting to apply to Nursing school! I AM SOOO READY!!! Good luck to everyone!!

I'm taking Chemistry and AP2. Class is 4 hours per night, Monday through Thursday. Should be interesting.

I'm taking College Chemistry (Chem 101) from Monday thru Thursday. Two lab days, two lecture days from 1pm-4pm. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Classes start April 30th and end June 18th.

Specializes in Oncology/hematology.

I'm taking it easy this summer. After 3 semesters of ridiculous hours (9 last summer, 15 in the fall and 16 this spring), I'm just taking 2 honors contracts this summer. It's a total of 2 credit hours!!!!! The cool thing is that the 2 professors have gotten together and decided to combine the classes so that I'm just doing one project. It's psychology and social problems. So, I need to come up with a psychosocial problem and write a 20 page paper on it. That's it for the whole summer. And, I already know what I'm writing it on.

Specializes in CNA.

I will be taking EnglishII and Sociology this summer. I made a bad grade in Sociology (too many issues at home) :( so I am taking it again. My Summer classes start May 29th. Both online.

I'm only taking A&P I during the summer semester. It's my last prerequisite to the nursing program.

Leif you don't have children or work it would be great!! I know for me I'm taking it this semester and it's lots and lots of memorization. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself. There are plenty of people on this website that have done it. Go for it!! It may be a more accelerated than a normal semester but it's doable!!
