Student Nurse "Help me!" Threads

Published

I think I'm done answering student nurse help me threads here.

I've gotten rude answers, or they never even bother coming back to the thread to acknowledge the answers they received.

Some will ask life choice questions like "Where should I move?" or "Where should I apply?". Do they think someone is going to offer them a job here, is that why they start these threads? You have the whole internet to research towns, cities, regions, but instead you post a thread asking a bunch of strangers where you should move?

Some help me threads seem to be 'Help me do my homework' threads.

Thank you for reading.

Why is it disappointing to see that nurses ON AVERAGE make more money than new grads? Why would anyone want to go into a career where the pay was completely stagnant?

You know how you can go on the left hand side and put in your education and your years of experience? It was THAT that was off by $10/hour. So basically, when I said I was going to have a BSN and no experience, it was telling me I'd start off in my area at about $31/hour. Meanwhile, the hospital is hiring for $22-23, and reading about it here, mid 20s seems a reasonable expectation, but maybe not for around here. If that makes sense? Not the bar graph and pie chart thingies that come up with just the regular averages when you initially search.

Nobody is saying you are interesting. Just that it's all fair game for everyone to see.

What's your point? You can see my Instagram photos: it isn't as if I'm naked. You can see the things I have sent over Twitter. It isn't as if I confessed to murdering anyone or shared a personal patient story. My Facebook is private. Can't read anything there. And you can read my posts on AN. Fantastic. You figured it out. I'm glad that *I'm* the one that has been accused of not having anything better to do in the world but "troll" this forum. So sad.

I will ignore the more reasonable voices in my head, and listen to the cray-cray ones by saying this:

Sarahrnay, you called your charge rude, snarky, inappropriate, unprofessional, and you encouraged her to get off her lazy ass. Because you are a real person--not a troll--I suggest you ask the mods to do whatever needs to be done to delete your username, if possible. This thread won't make much sense if they are successful, but that's fine by me. Use your head, girl!

Can someone please let me know when it gets fun again? Thanks. I'm working on my research question, "should I do the ADN program too hours away that starts next month but they are ok with tattoos, or should I go to the LPN program that's right across town but it starts this fall even though they have a strict no-tattoo policy and I have Tweety Bird tattooed on my bippy?"

Also, the shadowing offer was serious.

Well, I've frittered away another completely good time-span reading this whole thread and have found it entertaining and irritating (mostly entertaining). You'll all said anything I thought of saying to Sarah. I think it's time to such attempts toward personal and career safety fade into the sunset...

I've decided to figure out how to make myself an official member of the "Old Bat Society," because I definitely fit in it. Are there dues? Is there a pin? What letters can I put after my name? Might I be Whispera, EIEIO, COB ?

Ok, I guess I'm not done... Sarah, if you spent the time you've spent here, reading policy and procedure books, it would have been time better spent! I can say that because I'm addicted to being here and have no sense of what's logical, since my addiction has taken over my life...

...off to figure out how to show, boldly, that I'm a Crusty Old Bat...

But you have single handedly hijacked a thread meant for fun and venting and turned it into a drama filled, argumentative gong show.

To be honest, since the incident, I've spent more time pouring over my medical/surgical text book, reading my Lippincott's manual, and familiarizing myself with the basics that exist on my unit. It's actually fun to re-learn some of the things I'm not on the up and up about. I just can't see bringing home oodles of binders to reference for days on end. I would never get any school work done that way.
