So Embarrassing

Post Partum nurse here! Last night, I was in the middle of helping a mom change her baby when I grabbed pacifier and placed it in mouth. Not the nipple end but the back end. I have a 7 month old and I'm just so used to holding his pacifier in my mouth as I change him, dress him etc. I was so embarrassed!!!! I immediately washed my mouth with Listerine and brushed with toothpaste. Not worried about catching anything but it was ban icky thing to do. The mom and had visitor said nothing. I was still embarrassed. My co-coworkers got a good laugh !

Oooops. We all fall into habits.. I'm glad the Mom didn't get upset. I doubt baby cared at that point ;)

Pic or it didn't happen! OK now you all know my inner brat.... I think we all go on auto-pilot sometimes... like the time I said "wheeeeee" when pushing a middle-aged proper lady down a longer than usual wheelchair ramp....

Isn't that the CNA's job?

Isn't that the CNA's job?

UMM????

Pretty sure nurses are just as qualified to do the same things as the CNA's are. Although it may be a normal CNA duty, a nurse is just as able to do it. Maybe the CNA was busy and she had time to help out.

Nothing is more irritating than the "that's the CNA's job" attitude.

Notice that poster's name? No ADLs. He likes to post provcatively about these things and apparently refuses to do ADLs for his patients.

I have a feeling it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

I was blithely cleaning a spot off of my ped patient's cheek with my own spit and a kleenex the other day. Old habits die hard.

Glad to know I'm not only one who falls into habits at work.

And to No ADL , I'm a RN and not above changing my patients diaper !
