Post Partum nurse here! Last night, I was in the middle of helping a mom change her baby when I grabbed pacifier and placed it in mouth. Not the nipple end but the back end. I have a 7 month old and I'm just so used to holding his pacifier in my mouth as I change him, dress him etc. I was so embarrassed!!!! I immediately washed my mouth with Listerine and brushed with toothpaste. Not worried about catching anything but it was ban icky thing to do. The mom and had visitor said nothing. I was still embarrassed. My co-coworkers got a good laugh !

NoADL's post made me LOL.....wouldn't expect to hear anything different from him. I think he was just needling the OP.

Isn't that the CNA's job?

Dude, you don't know feces!

It's part of any nurse's duties when working post partum. It's called patient ed. You also get to check the littlest patient's skin and Mum's coping skills.

Proof that you are a troll and not a nurse

I'll only answer that question if prnqday says it's OK for you to (hi)jack her thread.

I did everything in my power to ensure I wouldn't work with babies. They cry too much and it interferes with my progress in candycrush.

I also seem to think no one is taking me seriously here.

Oh, I believe you are completely serious! It's just the way you are serious that I think is amusing.....seriously! You're really kind of endearing!

I think my most embarrassing moment happened when I was a young nurse in the ER. There was a handsome available resident and I wanted him to ask me out so I thought I'd dazzle him with my knowledge. Had a chest gunshot wound, got a CXR (backed into that order) put the films on the viewfinder (before digital diagnostics) and proceeded to review with him what I saw. I saw a clear right lung, no infiltrates, blah, blah, blah (couldn't keep my mouth shut). He was a gracious gentleman. He lowered his voice so no one could hear and proceeded to tell me that the reason the right lung was clear was because it was not there, it had collapsed when the bullet went through it. To this day I don't dazzle anyone. If I know what I'm talking about I speak my piece. If I don't I stay mute and learn from others. Yes, he's probably telling the same story too!

:) Cute story. Thanks for sharing.

Most post partum floors don't have CNA's or techs, it's usually primary care by the RN.

OP- how funny!

"Hey, why are you dragging our floor's CNA by the ear to the elevator?"

"Someone has to give a baby its pacifier. She'll be back in a few minutes."

Notice that poster's name? No ADLs. He likes to post provcatively about these things and apparently refuses to do ADLs for his patients.

good thing Karma is a boomerang ;-)
