Looks like your hospital needs to be on the receiving end of the next card-mailing effort, beginning with sending back all the decks they gave out. Better yet, since you all are directly on the scene, maybe several hundred games of 52-card pick-up are in order.
That is a twisted gift, for sure. A place that has co-opted nurses' week gives out an items like those sent to protest the comments of a Senator shilling for hospitals via disdainful commentary?
Why don't you quit that place and your husband will get the idea that he's next if he can't find better things with which to amuse himself.

I'm with hubby. Our school district head nurse gave us a deck of cards. I laughed out loud and thought it was quite funny. I think the cards were meant to reinforce how ridiculous the recent public statement was and that they know the real truth...
She gave us a box of Bicycle Standard playing cards. I was looking at the front of the package where it is printed, "Trusted Since 1885." Hmmm...
Your hospital is despicable. They thought they could use a matter of legitimate outrage, fake alliance with their nurses by turning it into a pathetic joke and get off on the cheap when it comes to showing appreciation. Whoever thought that one up needs to spend a few weeks in Sensitivity Training Hell.
Your husband is just clueless. If this is a pattern for him, you have tolerated it up till now. If he just doesn't get this current situation, don't be too quick to turf his butt. You may need him to support you when you tell your hospital where they can put their cards. In fact, you should encourage him to get a second job now. After receiving a double whammy of cluelessness, you deserve to be supported in style.

We were given a deck of cards for "hospital" week. They don't do nurses week, or day. I think it was disgusting and rude of administration, but my husband thinks it's hilarious. Am I just a crusty old bat? Lord knows I'm old enough to qualify.
