Shoes for wide, flat feet with high instep

Hi, I'm looking for a pair of very supportive nursing shoes that can be worn in a pediatric doctors office. Dansko's are not comfortable and can't seem to find any sneakers that are professional and supportive at the same time. Willing to spend $$$ if it is worth it

One caveat! I need BLACK only

Try New Balance -- they make wide shoes, and some of them come in black without the wild, multi-colored accents. You may need to use your own orthotic, but they have removable inserts so you can.

My feet love Crocs!

My feet aren't wide, but I definitely have the high instep issue. I second the vote for New Balance; also, I like Adidas' trail running shoes. I've also found that trail running shoes (in any brand) tend to have darker colors, a more aggressive sole for better wear, and really give great support. I'm a Zappos addict - a great option for finding black or understated colors after you try on/get fitted for a good style somewhere locally!

I have also had great luck with Ariat's professional shoes - they have wide widths and a variety of quality leather styles, but don't bother my instep as much as Danskos can. Good luck! Happy feet always help me have a better day! ?

My feet are ultra wide--and flat. (too many years wearing not so great shoes!! HAHA) In any event, I really love reebok "princess" sneakers. They come in black, are really soft leather, can hold an insert--but the best part is that they are soft enough to mold to your foot, regardless of how wide one's foot is. And they come in wide widths.

Try a man's shoe. They are naturally wider. Go 2.5 sizes smaller.

Thanks for the info! Currently wearing croc shoes (not classic crocs) and those are the ones that are killing my feet. I will look at trail running shoes-I tried Sketcher's sneakers recently and wore through the treads quickly.

The problem with many sneakers is that they don't look as professional as a regular shoe or clog. so does anyone make nursing shoes with support like a a sneaker but looks like a shoes besides for Dansko?

Ariat does. They have several clog styles (some just like Dansko, some not). Some people also swear by Sanitas or Klogs. I personally could not stand the Klogs; they had tons of stretch and softness but that totally killed the support. I love Ariats. I have a pair of their professional shoes and several pairs of their riding boots - they're pretty darn good.

ps: edited to add - I have these. This one doesn't have a wide width listed, but Ariat in general comes in tons of widths.

I LOVED crocs since they first hit the market. Now my feet are horrible . Those orthotics are tremendous. On a pain scale I went from a 8 to a four after getting them from the podiatrist. Take that JACHO.

I like danskos and new balance. My podiatrist told me new balance was best for me. I have wide, flat feet. You could see about orthotics or learn some taping techniques that may help.

Thanks for all the suggestions on different shoes to buy. Besides The Walking Company, where else is there to try on these types of shoes?

Go to a local Running store. we have a Fit 2 Run store. They sell running and walking shoes. They measure your foot and help you find something that will work for you. They have a 30 day return policy that is great. I like Altra shoes. They are made for wide feet with a "box" /square toe. The colors might be a little "'loud", but you will find something you like. Good luck!
