I am now working in the OBGYN field as an OBGYN Assistant. Maybe I have lived a sheltered life but I am shocked at the number of women who wax and shave off all their pubic hair. This trend has gone mad. It is just not the young under 25 crowd it is the 30 and over females. It is sort of disturbing. Has anyone else noticed this trend ????
To each their own. But i can't help but be a little annoyed when i've seen a woman come into our minor surgery room THREE times in TWO months to get a vulvar abcess drained, yet she waxing her pubic hair off. I doubt that HELPS her problem.
This is my only objection. Have definitely seen an increase in this particular malady presumably associated with that practice.
I think it is much nicer to see someone at least trimmed up down there. It is kinda yucko when the hair is hipbone-to-hipbone, and navel-to-knee! Like one of our docs says, "It's bear country in there!" I unfortunately witnessed a birth once where the attending said to the brand new intern, "You need to suction the mouth and nose!" to which the intern said, "Oh, I didn't know the head was out." (he was quite embarrassed). No one else in the room saw the head emerging either! Yes, it was that bad! SG
Can't believe this subject has reached page 6.
An all female OB/GYN practice that I know of started offering laser hair removal several years back. I always assumed that this was in response to the popularity and less than comfortable results of shaving the "nether regions"! As an L&D nurse I see lots of the barely there look. I am middle-aged and have never done more than just trimmed. Neatness counts my elementary school teachers always told me! LOL :chuckle
(I can't believe how many people are volunteering their own self-grooming habits, though. Reason why i say that is that i remember a poster actually asking whether people shaved or didn't and you had to wonder why they wanted to know this, whether it was a legitimate question, or whether they were just a troll that was wanting to see a bunch of women talk about their maintenance habits for their own entertainment?)
the same thought crossed by mind. that poster was critisized and the thread didn't last long.
I've had laser on my upper thighs and then wax to a 'brazillian' (you go stevie!). I seriously can't imagine having a "natural growing forrest." YUCK!!!! It makes me remember back to my A&P book with pics from the 70's. For all those inexpirenced with waxing, go to a professional!!!!!!!! Seriously, they've always seen someone more hairy than you so don't be embarrassed! Also if you must wax at home, use Nad's (can buy at most drug and beauty stores), its water soluable so you can just rinse of any leftovers and it works really well. Yes, I am in my 20's and I really don't know anyone, male or female, who doesn't keep things smooth or at least trim. And my waxer always talks about all her customers who are lik 9mo pregnant and come in for waxes right b/f their deliveries.
