SHAVING & WAXING

Published

I am now working in the OBGYN field as an OBGYN Assistant. Maybe I have lived a sheltered life but I am shocked at the number of women who wax and shave off all their pubic hair. This trend has gone mad. It is just not the young under 25 crowd it is the 30 and over females. It is sort of disturbing. Has anyone else noticed this trend ????

ok, now it sounds even more tortuous than it did before. I think I would rather do just about anything than that! More power to you ladies that can hack it!! LOLOL Not to mention, I doubt I'd trust this to anyone in my one horse town LOL

I think it was earlier this year.

yea...it wasn't that long ago. I tried a search but couldn't find it. I do remember that most of the responding posts were defensive and basically "why do you want to know?". Now everyone is "baring" it all!

That thread started out with someone iquiring what people di for themselves in that dept. I think that thread was deleted after it was closed, though.

(i'm weird in the fact that i have the none-of-your-business stance on that issue, i suppose)

not weird...it is "none-of-your-business". the anonymity of this b.b. allows some people to be more "revealing" about themselves than they would be in person.

btw I always like your avatars, quite funny

Maybe this isn't as new as y'all think....

In the late 70s when I was a little kid, I accidentally barged into the bathroom at my grandparent's house to find my grandpa (a state government employee born in 1918) assisting my grandma (head of the women's church group born in 1921) with this little grooming practice... I had no idea what I'd walked in on, only that I needed to leave very quickly! Nothing was ever said and I completely forgot (repressed) the incident until I was an adult ; )

I am a mature women myself in my early 40's and I just don't get the clean shaven pubic region. At first I thought it was just the under 30 age group but

I see women in there upper 30's and early 40' doing it. Have you noticed this trend also ???

Why not shave it? Body hair in certain places can be very unattractive, to both men and women. I'm yet to hear a woman say she finds back hair attractive on men, and I don't know too many guys who're attracted to hairy pits and legs on a women. Pubic hair can look pretty nasty if its real thick, curly, and full. I shave the hair off my face everyday because I prefer the way I look without it. I don't see any difference between that and a person who shaves his/her pubic hair. Of course, all that is on the personal side. When it comes to the patients, I've seen a lot of shaving among mature females, too.
Like one of our docs says, "It's bear country in there!"

LOL!!! That's a good one! :rotfl:

Regarding the intern----poor guy! He must have been sooooo mortified. I, too, have seen pubic hair that never ENDS--particularly while working OB back in the '70s when the feminist movement and "Our Bodies, Ourselves" was all the rage (anybody remember "Pelvic Parties?" :uhoh3: )

[i successfully remove all the wax and notice, to my dismay, that the

hair is still there. So I shaved the damned stuff off. Hell, I was numb

by that point anyway. And then I put the box of wax back in my medicine

cabinet. Never know when a moustache might start to come in.]

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Oh my!!!. I guess the $60 i pay are really worth it. By the way, there are some very good places out there that pre-spray you with a numbing solution, i guess it's some type of diluted lidocaine and it really works.

Using a hair clipper/beard trimmer at the setting/length you chose works well...no itch and no bush.

You know, I just hope and pray that I won't become a hospital patient anytime soon. I would hate the idea that those entrusted with my care are gossiping about the condition of my "nether end" at the nurses' station. (And no, I won't state here whether I shave or don't shave. No one's business.:uhoh21: )

Very well put.

Boulergirl, my sentiments exactly.
