Perk of the job. Studies show most people prefer dogs over people anyway. Beats being isolated most of the time.

The nurse at my kid's school has a therapy dog. He lives in a rehabbed closet (no door, perfect doggie size). I speak to the nurse occasionally and she's reporting a "measurable" difference in the amount of stressed-out kids she sees. Apparently the rules are you can't come in the middle of class to receive dog therapy, so she does have a run on her office at lunch....

Now I want to get my dog certified so he can hang out with me at work and help the littles!

At my husband's school that he teaches at they have therapy dogs come once a month for the teacher's and staff! He is so lucky. Once therapy dogs came to the hospital I work at and they were a little hesitant to have staff members pet the dogs as "they are only her for the kids" I though hey, staff get's stressed too, and there were about 4 dogs too. They did let me and a few staff pet the dog, but they were not happy

The dog won't stay here, and may not specifically come to the clinic. We offer many psych services to our students including 1-on-1 therapy, resiliency group therapy, social support groups, etc. This will be another service through that. I am not sure how often the dog will come, but I am excited none the less.
