The preventionist at our school is interviewing dogs today!!! You guys!!!! I got to pet a dog!
At my husband's school that he teaches at they have therapy dogs come once a month for the teacher's and staff! He is so lucky. Once therapy dogs came to the hospital I work at and they were a little hesitant to have staff members pet the dogs as "they are only her for the kids" I though hey, staff get's stressed too, and there were about 4 dogs too. They did let me and a few staff pet the dog, but they were not happy
God forbid they let the nurses have something nice.

Likely further spiraling for those kids. Believe it or not, a student refusing to return to class can be just part one of a huge shutdown. I know as I've helped redirect students; sometimes it is a long break and a vent session to prevent loose of an entire school day vs. one missed class period. Or sometimes preventing a student thinking about self harm from self harming. I think preventionist is actually a pretty good title :).
