NO MORE SNOW DAYS!!!

I am SO over this Winter here in MA! Kids have had three snow days already so they have to make them up. We are now awaiting a blizzard "Winter Storm Stella" and likely will be closed tomorrow and Wednesday  I know there is nothing we can do, but just frustrating. I don't care if my OWN kids have to make up the days, but here at my Charter school, we are already coming in three extra days and now with these other two days, we move into the last week of June, making my Summer break only 5 weeks long (we go back August 1st). Just a HUGE bummer!!!

My kids are already planning jam sessions for their rock band at my house throughout the storm, with all "the fellas" staying over.

Help.

Help.

You have my sympathies. I hope your wine stock is filled.

I will be getting a snow day tomorrow. That is unheard of in acute care, and I have never had one before. We canceled every single elective surgery, and will be staffing only 2 teams for traumas and emergencies.

I'll tell ya what frustrates me about "Winter Storm Stella".

I'm here in KY. No snow here. I am however, trying to buy

a house, HAVE been for over two months now.

My lender, who is FINALLY about to approve my loan and

allow us to close on the house... is in CT!!!! They probably

are not going to be able to even get into their offices

again until what, Thursday MAYBE?

*sigh*

I am guessing we will have a half day today. And depending on when this ends and how long the clean-up takes, we may or may not have school tomorrow. If we do this will make snow day number 5 or 6 for us (I've lost count). Right now the last day of school for students is June 22. Teachers (and I am on a teachers contract) right now are slated to stay a few days after student to make up for lost time.

Our principal had to have an assembly with the seniors about graduation either being pushed back, or requiring the seniors to come to school AFTER graduation to make up the days we have lost because they aren't going to have enough seat time to meet the requirements for a full school year before graduation. There is talk of coming to school on a few Saturdays to make up for the time. Or adding an hour on to the end of our school day for a certain amount of time. I am all for any of it!!

This stinks because the summer camp I work at starts June 14.

So much for all that snow....we got nada overnight.

Barely a dusting of snow here and....here I am at home! I was really looking forward to the May 19th closing date. :arghh:

I live in North Dakota so can definitely relate to being sick to death of winter! But hang in there. The end is near.

It was rough up here last night. The wind was awful, I couldn't see the house across the street, and I am surprised we did not lose power. We got about 12-14" of snow is my guess. We have some snow drifts that are a lot taller than that though.

We had a half day yesterday and a 2 hour delay today, so we have missed no days because of this storm. YAY!!

We are supposed to get more snow this weekend (Sat into Sun). Blech!! But at least it won't affect our snow days!!

We only got like 5" (I live in coastal MA North of Boston). My kids got one snow day, but the school where I work got 2, so now our last day is June 27!!!! I think by law, teachers cannot work past June 30, but we are a Charter school and staff return August 1, so already that cuts our Summer break WAY short. This blows!

We got about 15-18 or so i'd say. It knocked out school for 2 days and burned up our last snow days. The roads were still pretty messy yesterday.

Want to here something crazy?? We were expecting the same storm in my area. Schools, stores, etc all closed. Guess what we got....rain. Nothing but rain, not even one tiny snowflake, lol!

Well, the teacher's union for public school does not allow them to work past June 30. Which is the day they will be working until in Boston.

The sidewalks were a mess yesterday by me and my school. We got about 6-7", then freezing rain which compacted everything down to pure, gross ice. It took me 2 hours to chip away at my car and the temp change while defrosting my car cracked my windshield (Ugh)! While chipping away at my car, I nearly fell every time I shoveled to the ice pile as I had to pass through the ice coated sidewalk. One of my friends was shut in side as ice formed around all her doors; she had to wait until the sun rose enough to thaw the ice just enough for her to be able to push the door through with her weight.

Parking is also ugh.

And yep, we're going to the 27th because of it. And then I have jury duty on the 28th. Ugh, indeed.
