Go ahead, break the ice, and introduce oneself!
I guess I'll start. I'm originally from California, and have resided in Texas since late 2005. I've been an LVN since January 2006, and I currently work in the rehab section of a skilled nursing facility in Fort Worth. Since August 2006, I have earned 38 college credit hours worth of prerequisite classes to be applied toward one of several local LVN-to-RN bridge programs.
Hey All !!
California (Bay Area) native...lived in Arlington for 2 years and moved back to Cali. I have a BA in Sociology/Social Services and was working as a Medi-Cal (Medicaid) worker in Cali while completing prerequisites. Couldn't get enough of Texas so moved to Katy last December (miss the weather though ) and will be attending ADN program in January. Hope to do RN-MSN program to become a Women's Health NP. Also looking into the US Public Health Service Corp or Army Reserves.
Hi Yall,
I was born/raised in Beaumont. Did two years at TX State (SWT) but, graduated with a BGS from Lamar. I'm now living and working as a Social Worker in Houston. I was Pre-PT and I have 2.5 years of experience as a tech. Soon came to the realization that PT was too routine for my taste and told the DPT folks at HSU, no thank you. I've done all my pre-recs except Growth and Development, which I plan to CLEP. Applying to UTMB Bacc-2, UTH, and HCC. Also hoping for a second interview for a PCA position in the medical center for more experience.
:angryfire
I'm in Dallas, orignially from LA, Baton Rouge and New Orleans area. I have a BA in sociology. Ive been a dialysis tech for the past 2 years, and tomorrow marks the end of my freshman semester of LVN school! I plan on doing the LVN thing in dialysis for a bit, not too long bc I am getting burnt out already i think. fiance will go to school while I work, then I will start on RN classes to bridge. who knows where I will go after that! i think I've got a good start on my prereqs due to my BA.
I was born (1965) and raised in the Central Valley of California and got to Texas as fast as I could (1993). I knew at the age of 4 that God created me for the purpose of being a nurse, but life got in the way and I didn't fully realize that dream until May of this year.
In 1986 I began work as a CNA and moved on to being a MedTech specializing in home termial care. I left the profession in 1993 when I broke my back. I then went on to get a degree in Social Gerontology, but worked as a bookkeeper/office manager.
Now I'm all mended and better than ever. My first job after graduation was as a Dialysis nurse. I loved the job but the staff treated me like dirt and I quit after 7 weeks. I am currently working at our local hospital in the IICU unit and I love the people I work with and the job is so so...
I hope to get my year in and move back into terminal care. I have everything I need to start my BSN except Sadistics and Chemestry. I hope to start in the next 2 years after I get some student loans paid down.
Oh and I have 3 grown sons, a wonderful husband and 2 georgeous granddaughters.
Hello all, Im Natalie from San Antonio! I just got pinned on 12/12 as an LVN. I am waiting for my ATT still, of course holiday delay!! I am currently working at a dialysis clinic as a tech (been in the field for about 2.5 years). I know I want to stay there for a little while. But I definitely want to get some med-surg experience. I also am trying to finish and clean up some of my pre-reqs for my BSN.

Born in California, got to Texas as quick as I could (about 7). Went to h.s. in El Paso, went to Texas A&M.
Whooooooooooooooooooppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joined the Army. After time in Cali, was sent back to good old Texas. Sadly, I am now an expatriate living in the DC Area. Going for my BSN in Maryland. I may move back but my heart is torn between Texas and Cali.
