  1. LOL. It doesn't seem to be working out that way for me!
  2. I called today...they said I was logging in under the wrong area....that's actually not the case. After getting disconnected 3 times I was told that they are still notifying people up until Oct 31. So keep hope alive!!
  3. I don't get it. When I go to log in, it re-directs me and asks for my DOB/last name/last six of social and password. Then when I put them in, it says it can't find an eligible record....did I get it and they are just updating the system?? (I first got this message on Saturday morning) or am I not going to get it? My app still just says "submitted". Someone please give me some hope....I've been following this thread since day 1. Congrats to all who have received the award!
  4. Yeah, I wore Dickies W all through nursing school and they never shrank. Good luck!
  5. You are in luck! Baylor just posted for L&D internships that start in January. If you go to baylorhealth.com then click on careers at the top of the page, then click on nursing (side of the page), scroll down halfway and under the nursing drop down box click gn intern. I believe they have L&D dallas and mother/baby dallas. Good luck!
  6. I am graduating from the accelerated program NEXT FRIDAY!! WOOT! Anyway, to answer your question, I would go with TCC. That's where I and the majority of my classmates took our prereqs. As far as it your classes being 10 years old, I say retake them if you know you need to raise your grade. And, it wouldn't hurt to have that refresher! Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!
  7. WOOHOO! Congrats to you both!! My pinning is August 7, 2009...can't wait!!
  8. all i know is base starting for new grads is $21. Good luck! also, i have clinical there and the teamwork that i observe is amazing. The nurses all work together well and seem like a family. Or they are putting on really good airs, lol. ETA: The perks for new grads are great (they pay for your NCLEX and pay for you to take it; I think they also pay for a review session, pay relocation fees...) so I'd imagine they'd be even better for experienced nurses!!
  9. what about the Terry Shaivo (sp?) case?
  10. Okay, here's what the Parkland packet says. They have a 9 month "OR specialty nurse course" Graduate nurse or nurse resident $24.52/hr evening shift diff (3pm to 11pm) $2.75/hr night shift diff (11p to 7a) $3.50/hr weekend shift diff (3pm fri to 7a mon) $6.00/hr if you work an evening or night shift on the weekend you will be paid both the shift and the weekend diffs. hope that helps!
  11. That's the base. Baylor didn't give their differentials, and all I can remember for Parkland is $6 for the weekend diff. I'll look back through my paperwork and see what else I can see.
  12. There was a job fair at my school just the other day. Baylor starts graduate nurses at $21 and Parkland gives graduate nurses $24 and some change. Those are the only 2 hospitals that actually told us salaries. Good luck!
  13. CONGRATS!!! I'm in the accelerated program now, so if you have questions....feel free to message me!
  14. I agree. People who have never been through it will never get it/understand. It's almost like a sorority...we can all identify with each other because we are going through the exact same thing. The hardest thing for me is, most of the people in my life (besides the husband) think that nursing is just passing pills and bedpans. WAY more to it than that.....sigh
  15. me too...i got a mid-grade steth simply because i sometimes have trouble hearing and they gave us the sphyg.........
